In January of 2003, I purchased a Mustek MDC3500 Camera. A cheapy, so I wasn't expecting all that much. However, it has been a fun little camera and I've gotten a lot of use out of it. The batteries (2 AA) lasted longer than I expected. I took it on a trip, flashing at least a couple hundred pictures and didn't have to replace the batteries until I got home. Though I was disappointed in the Zoom feature, the overall quality of the pics was pretty darn good in good light, enough to use them on my website.
Now the bad news. Last week, May 2004, my trusty little camera experienced sudden death and I attempted my first contact with Mustek. After sitting on hold for 30 minutes, I was disconnected. Being a patient soul, I tried again, same thing. I then left a phone message and emailed Mustek. They never did return my phone call, but did contact me by email 72 hours later, not the 24 promised, and told me what to do. I followed their instructions with negative results. My camera was still dead. I emailed them back. Another 48 hours later, I was told my camera was probably defective (duh) and if under warranty, to call customer service. I'm patient, not stupid, I emailed them back asking where I could get it fixed. Still waiting for that response. My decision at the moment is whether to bother to get it fixed, probably more $$ than it's worth, or buy a new camera. If it's the latter, it sure won't be another Mustek!
