Pros: Excellent device support and programmability; backlight is nice
Cons: Not terribly elegant; some buttons are hard to find the first time
The Bottom Line: This is a great remote. No disappointing surprises, and it has some nice features.

| myuseraccount's Full Review: One For All URC-8811 Remote Control |
I got this after being a bit disappointed in my Sony RMV-301 universal remote (see my other review). The main reason was because it was programmable, and it was able to control audio receivers. It's amazing how many 5- or 6-device remotes only do video components and CD players.
All together, it's excellent. Almost every button worked as soon as I entered the brand codes. On my 5-disc Panasonic DVD player, I only had to teach the disc-change and eject buttons. It even worked on an old Nakamichi bookshelf receiver, although some of the buttons were in odd places. But I was even able to fix that!
The great part is the programmability. You can copy functions from one device mode to another, so in VCR mode you can have the TV volume and mute buttons work. I also used this feature to move some buttons around, so that the tuner/aux toggle for my receiver was on the "select" button. And I love the macro buttons: I programmed one to change the TV to channel 3, turn on the VCR, and switch on the TV/VCR mode, all with one keypress.
My only gripes are that it is so large and unattractive, and the button layout isn't perfect. The channel and volume buttons are a bit oddly shaped, but you get used to them. And there's no eject or mode button, so I had to program those.
