| tinkerman's Full Review: Onkyo TX-SR601 6.1 Channels Receiver |
My 3 week old 601 also had a defective headphone jack. Upon plugging in Sony MDR-7506 headphones I was greeted with extremely loud sound levels. It was as if the speaker amps were powering the headphone jack. I immediately unplugged the headphones, lowered the volume level to it's lowest setting and then repatched in the headphones. Now the headphone jack was completly dead, no signal at all no matter what I did. I exchanged the unit for another 601 since it was only 3 weeks old and still returnable.
Now, 5 years later, one of the solenoids is slow to click on, so there is a delay before the left channel works, sometimes a few minutes.
I'm not convinced that Onkyo makes reliable gear.
My Kenwood receiver had lasted over 15 years without any problems. My Sansui integrated stereo amp is coming up on 20 and still going strong.
Onkyo, 5 years and already having problems.
