| sweetsue_98's Full Review: Uniden EXAI 7980 900 MHz - Cordless Phone |
Last summer I bought a phone which shall remain nameless that had all the bells and whistles.......except the reception was horrible, and 90% of the time it just didn't work. I decided to call the local Wal-Mart in our new hometown, explained that I didn't have a receipt, but I needed to do something with this phone. I was so pleased that they were willing to let me exchange it for a better one.
The lady that helped me in the electronics department, promptly handed me the Uniden EXAI 7980, and said it was a great phone, and I wouldn't have any problems with it. At first I questioned her about some of the other brands, but she still insisted that this phone would be one that we were happy with. She was right!
This phone has everything that we need, plus the price of under $80 makes it a good bargain in my book. When I took it home, I actually dreaded setting it up. The previous phone required at least a PHD to get all the features to work, and this one was a piece of cake.
First of all a nice laminated card came in the box with simple instructions for the basic features. No more thumbing through a 50 page book trying to find how to set up an answering machine. Of course the booklet is there for more detailed information, but my phone was ready to go after the overnight charge.
Some of the feature that I like are:
"Call Waiting and Caller ID": The button to switch to the other phone call is large and easy to find. Caller ID is easy to use, and a snap to erase.
"You have 15 minutes of recording time": This is a nice feature. How many phone have you had that fill up in 5 minutes. It is all digital, so there is no tape to mess with. It is simple to listen to your message, and delete them with the touch of a button. Again, big buttons, and you don't need to put your glasses on to see what you are doing. There is also a time and date stamp for the messages, and a new message indicator light.
"Speakerphone": Now I am not fond of a speakerphone, and think they are rather rude, but if you get stuck on hold with the phone company for 30 minutes, this feature is handy.
"30 Number Memory": Easily to program for the numbers you use the most.
"Battery Use": Seven hours continuous use, and seven days when the handset is in the standby mode.
"Range": I do not have information on the exact range, but it works fine anywhere in my three story home. Since there is snow in the yard, it hasn't been outside.
"Feel": A comment was left that the person wanted to know how it felt against your face. That was a new one to me. It is just fine, and is comfortable in the hand. Hope that information helps.
This 900 MHZ phone is by far the best we have ever had. The sound is clear. The features are easy to use, and the range is excellent.
If you are shopping for a phone, put this one at the top of your shopping list. It is a great value!
