Well. There are many advantages to mp3-cd players, let alone any type of mp3 player (flash, hard drive or cd). Mp3s have become the new revolution of digital media; music contained in such a small amount of data, might I add high quality and easily obtained music.
There are many great sources for mp3s themselves, such as www.mp3s.com or even from the artist themselves offering sample mp3s. There are other napster-like programs, such as www.kazaa.com where one can access a limitless treasure cove of mp3s, whether legit or not.
However, the beauty of mp3s comes in the fact that they are nearly cd-quality music files, that are contained in such a small amount of space. Space, in the computer world, limits basically what we can have portably, whether music cds or dvds.
There are many types of mp3 players out there, and this is an mp3-cd player, which I am highly recommending. Simply because it is easy to use, it uses an album system in which you place the mp3s in folders and according to alphabetical order, will be called albums 1-#. And within those, each song will be arranged alphabetically and labeled as a number as well in the cd-interface.
Like all other Mp3-CD players, you can play either an mp3 cd, or a normal CD that you buy from the stores, and it also has CD-RW playback feature. Meaning you can use re-writable cds to record your mp3s, or normal cd audio tracks on and later on when your music tastes change, you can write over that CD and carry around a completely different one.
This player also comes with accessories, a car-kit adaptor, and some pretty decent "stock" headphones. Usually, even when buying an expensive Sony CD Player, the headphones that come with the cd player will be the low-end cheap headphones, however these are some pretty good headphones and I have not needed to replace, or buy another pair of headphones because of quality, or even if they would break. They are high-quality and durable, been put through quite a bit of travel and use and still work just as well as the day they were bought.
The CD player itself is quite durable, with a 120 second memory backup for MP3s and 40-second skip protection. Which is quite well and takes quite some effort in order to cause to skip or stop because of being jostled.
MP3 players are great to get also because of the size and availibility of mp3s. Mp3s are quite easy to get and quite small. Being a CD-MP3 player, you can fit much much more than 80 minutes of music on a CD (On a normal 700 mb 80 minute cd-r). Fitting several hours on a CD is quite normal and in fact the main advantage of a CD-MP3 player over the normal MP3 players, which use memory, sticks to hold music (Which fit about 80 minutes of music).
The disadvantage over this CD-MP3 player in particular is there is no ID3 support. No ID3 support is the fact that in some other models, which are more expensive, the player will scroll the title of the song across the LED screen. This instead operates simply as a CD player would with numbers, but still as well, and quite easy to understand how to use it.
It has a very flat learning curve, meaning, it is easy to learn and even preteens could use it, comparable to other CD-MP3 players.
The price is reasonable; at wal-mart I found this for about $99. There are not many special features about this player, however its simplicity is what appealed to me the most and it is quite useful.
