pdnj's Full Review: Grundig YB 400PE AM/FM/SW Radio
The Grundig YB 400PE is a nice radio, with many useful features. The radio has a very sensitive front end and produces nice sound, particularly through stereo headphones. The built in antenna is sufficient to pull in many stations from around the world. The ability to scan bands is very handy and makes finding a program of interest very fast. I usually take this radio with me when I travel and it has provided me with lots of listening pleasure. Scanning the world radio bands usually finds something entertaining, informative, or just plain different. It is reasonably easy to program the clock and the station presets, along with switching from band to band. The radio can be "locked" when not in use to prevent it from accidentally being turned on and draining the batteries. The built in alarm clock has provided me with many pleasant awakenings. The one concern I have, but fortunately have not had any problems, is the telescopic antenna. When extended, it is quite long and seems to put stress on the case. I am always afraid of breaking it or the case, but neither has happened in the many years I have had the radio. When I will not be moving around with the radio, I will usually attach the included dipole antenna, enabling me to fold up the telescopic antenna.
