Pros: solid feel, probably, it is built well

Cons: cost, average performance

The Bottom Line: I would try other models available on the market.

Well... this will be a bit of a story.

I had Eureka WorldVac Vacuum cleaner (Model 9575BT) since 1993. Replaced a motor once after wife got the sock sucked in - Eureka is not a pass through model - hence the result. When the second motor started showing sparks (I guess the brushes were worn out) we went out to look for the new vacuum.

Our goal was - to get convenient, bagged model with a reasonable rating by Consumer Reports. Did not like top rated Eureka, kind of liked Electrolux ($500) and end up in the local vacuum cleaners store. Tried Riccar 8955 and it seemed to be Ok. Based on reviews here and the Consumer reports - decided to buy it. They are a bit tricky at the store as the carpet used has very short height.

In the real world vacuum works reasonably well. The only major complain about the cleaning is that the edges are not cleaned well (I believe somebody complained about it here).

Switching to use on board tools is not very convenient as you have to bend, unplug the hose and plug a wand in. The wand looks pretty cool in the store (it has telescope type design) but I would prefer standard arrangement when you connect two pieces together.

Product does feel solid, but here is a kicker - I ordered the new motor for Eureka (around $50 with shipping from HESCO) and got Eureka back in business. My wife likes the old vacuum Eureka more (and I agree with her) so Riccar is going to the basement.
