| Grelmar's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 763 MB 17 inch CRT Monitor |
I got this monitor as part of a package with a new PC, and overall, I have to say I am very happy with it, although it does have one or two minor weakness.
The clarity and crispness of the image are very high, and it has an excellent viewable area (just over 16"). Adjustments to the monitor are very easy and intuitive with on set buttons and a clear menuing system for all the deeper controls.
It powers up rapidly, with almost no screen warm up time, which should be expected from this generation of monitor.
The only two concerns I have with the monitor have to do with brightness. This is a very bright monitor, even at the lowest possible setting. I spend a tremendous amount of time at the keyboard, and a bright monitor makes for not insignificant eyestrain.
Secondly, there seems to be a slight colour wash, compared to other monitors I've used. I suspect this go back to the brightness issue. Some colours, especially in the yellow to amber range, seem to me to be slightly faded and washed out. When working with graphics, I simply have to take this into account, or use one of my other monitors.
Overall, though, this is an excellent monitor, with a good refresh rate, easy viewing, and easy controls. For the price, it's pretty unbeatable.
