Agfa SnapScan e50
TERRIBLE!
The only things this scanner does well are the things you do not really need. But anything you expect a good scanner to do, forget it. With the Agfa SnapScan e50, the simples of tasks can be complicated.
The installation itself is a nightmare, it seems that Agfa put more value on un-useful things such as; the four command launch buttons or the transparency holder. To me it seems if they would have put more care in the operation of this product instead of its look it may have worked.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Agfa SnapScan e50 is a very large scanner. It measures, 50 cm in depth x 33.5 cm in width x 9.5 cm in height. So you will need lots of room for it. It is also very restrictive in its compatibity with operating systems, it is restricted to Windows 98, 2000 and Me only.
Installing the SnapScan e50 is anything else but a snap, drivers are impossible to locate and if you succeed in reaching customer support, their help is not the greatest. They talk to as if you should know all about their product before hand.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
The nightmare with the Agfa SnapScan e50 started the moment we tried to install it. It was extremly hard to do and we had to call customer service which by the way was of very little help. Eventually we succeeded to install it and we were hoping that our troubles would be over. Boy, we were wrong.
Nothing is easy with the e50 and what ever you succeed in scanning. it will take for ever. It takes an eternity to warm up, the scan time for a full page can take as long as 3 minutes and previewing takes as much as 30 seconds.
I usually like to say something nice about a product, the only thing that come to mind about the Agfa SnapScan e50 is that you can match the color of the handle with the tie you are wearing that day.
