Good inexpensive color PDA - Software just ok. (Reply to this comment)

Bought it for $150 new. It's a nice buy for the price - fully functional COLOR PDA offering Address, Datebook, Email, Calculator, Image storage, To Do list, Memo Pad, etc. Includes USB cable to connect to computer, not cradle. Don't know about battery life yet.

This is my first PDA purchase, but it works great for what I need it for. I purchased Lotus EasySync for $65 to sync it with my company's Lotus Notes contact, calendar, and email solution. Yea, Lotus sucks, but it's what the company uses. There's some tricks to installing Lotus EasySync correctly with the HotSync application, but that's another story.

Pros: Good price for Color PDA, fits in pocket, easy to use, nice Palm desktop software. Has plenty of options and accessories to keep it growing as you need. But the 15MB of space appears to be quite enough to start if you're just using Address and Date book. The device has an IR port, but I haven't tried it yet, it might be handy. Sharp looking case and leather cover.

Cons: Included software could be a bit better, limited sync capability, no cradle (you can buy one for $30 - but it's a bit expensive).

If you start getting into video and audio, then you'll need one of the memory sticks. But this PDA's competency is with business productivity, not with audio and video, there are other devices that specialize in that field.

Actually, I found it a great review. In fact, I have questions. I am currently looking for a PDA that allows me to do the basics (calendar/sched, etc), but also would like to be able to have built-in voice recorder and/or 802.11b (WLAN) access (bluetooth if possible, as well). MP3 and Video playback is a plus, but not necessary.

Something with enough memory (around 32 MB) and a CF/SD slot (I heard that CF devices are cheaper than SD (I prefer CF slot then) - just in case I want to add Bluetooth/WLAN capabilties if it wasn't built in).

Now, I'm looking for something under $200 if possible. Since it looks like you've been around the PDA block, is there anything off the top of your head you can recommend?

I currently have a Palm IIIxe (8MB) that has a iffy power button, but otherwise work perfectly. I really hate the AAA batteries as I do forget to change them. This is my main reason to get a new unit - something with a built-in LiIon battery I can keep constantly charging whenever it is on it's cradle base.

Thanks for a great review!

Your comment doesn't much sense... especially since you've written one review here on a hotel and listed the price of the hotel in US dollars only.

What in the world are you talking about?

I find that your comment doesn't really make much sense. You have a whole bunch of writing and who on earth is going to be bothered reading all of that. I don't mean to be nasty, but really. I also think that you should cater to international custermors. I find that when writing a reveiw i give the prices in four currenceys (Australian Dollars) (English Pounds) and (American dollars) I'm sure if you follow this that you reveiws will be alot more sucsesful. On the good side, I'm happy you're happy with your purchese.
