Sony Takes Advantage of Consumers Hard Earned Dollars $$$$$
Sony produced projection TV models KP-51HW40 and KP-57HW40 that turned out to be expensive pieces of electronic scrap that even I purchased one of that is the KP-57HW40 at a cost of approximately $2,800. The TV failed within 4 years of purchasing it, long enough for the warranty to have expired, which Sony probably calculated on to avoid a major recall and squelch having any obligation to consumers for design flaws they were knowledgeable of. The CRTs that were not manufactured by Sony used in this TV turned out to be defective, a problem Sony was very aware of yet unwilling to take responsibility for. I suspect that Sony used their so called authorized service centers to cover up for them by having the defect diagnosed incorrectly because Sony may have deliberately provided them with misleading updates causing service technicians to misdiagnose and replace other parts of the TV rather then what was really needing replacement which were the (CRTs). This resulted in consumers to throw money away on repairs that were not fixing the actual problem that should have been fixed by Sony at no cost to consumers if honest. I guess Sony does their own bean counting for dollars thinking consumers are stupid and that we can easily be bamboozled. What should happen now the cat is out of the bag their should be a class action law suit brought against Sony for consumer fraud and violations of FCC requirements by not having a 7 year supply of parts on hand which they failed to do so for this particular TV when it comes to the CRTs needing replacement because they have been unwilling to have the parts re-manufactured correctly. If properly investigated there might be a slew of consumer violations that Sony could be found liable for. Sony can make really exceptional products but also really awful stuff that as a company they should really be ashamed of. Sony needs to produce quality products as a first priority and truly improve their consumer relations department, if they desire change in overall consumer opinions along with maintaining a hardcore following of buyers who should never feel cheated in having purchased a Sony product.
