Pros: Awesome theater quality picture. Great sound even without a surround sound system.
Cons: On the zoom screen selection, heads and words are cut off.
The Bottom Line: SONY lives up to its reputation with this one. Its worth spending the extra money. There is just no beating SONY'S quality.

| Diana123's Full Review: Sony KP-57HW40 57 in. TV |
Ok, So my husband wanted a big screen. We actually started out looking for another 32-35" to replace our old RCA. We went to Circuit City, did some browsing, and there it was............. in all its big screen glory! THE SONY KP-51HW40. I could almost hear Tim Allen doing his infamous grunt. Only it wasn't my husband, He was looking at the Sony 51" A few steps away was the 57" I was mesmerized by the clear picture. Ok It didnt hurt that the video of the day just happened to be Vanilla sky. Aside from being a huge tom Cruise fan, I like many women out there know that AHEM "Bigger is better" So I grabbed my husband by his arm and showed him the 57 incher. We were lucky enough to have an opportunity to purchase the "out of box" set. The normal retail (In Seattle WA) was $2895, We got it for $2300. Ok now for the nitty gritty. You need MONSTER CABLES Circuit City will sell them to you for $85, although... I strongly recommend you shop around. The better quality of cables, the clearer the picture. ALSO For the ultimate picture replace your DVD player with a PROGRESSIVE DVD player. (We have yet to do this and the picture is just fine) For the absolute ultimate viewing experience you can get a SATTELLITE DISH such as Dish network. We have AT&T Broadband Cable and the picture is just fine. The remote is easy to use and can also work with your SONY DVD Player. You have several picture modes. ZOOM, WIDE ZOOM, FULL, and NORMAL. I keep the setting on WIDE ZOOM, as the ZOOM and FULL tend to chop the heads off of people, as well as some of the words on the screen. The sound is impressive, SONY is known for its quality sound and this is no exception. This is a light weight TV with castors on the bottom for easy moving. NOTE* Each time you move, such as a new residence or any re arranging that results in the TV getting bumped around. The TV will need to be re calibrated. We purchased a warranty/service contract for $200. This covers anything that might go wrong with the TV for the first 2 years. The calibration itself can cost $175 so the service agreement pretty much pays for itself. We are extremely happy with this TV and on Friday nights our kids pop popcorn and have their friends join us for "MOVIE NIGHT" Movie night will never be the same!
