WHAT I LIKED
There was a lot of things I liked about this MD player. It gave me a lot of options. For example, I have a MD mic, and I have the option of using it if I ever want to record a college lecture, or even live music at a concert (if that is even allowed). You can also change the sound of the music to your preference, and there are a lot of options, like say if you wanted a more jazzy sound, or heavy metal. You can also customize the sound yourself. I made mine really bassy.
I also like the slimness of this MD, and how sleek it looked. The sound wasn't bad either, though I have to admit there are better. Like other MDs with MDLP, LP4 allows you to record up to 5 or 6 CDs if you have a 74 or 80 minute MD.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
Okay, I also hated a lot of things about this product as well. I don't like using remote controls because I'm a person on the go, and I don't like extra pieces dangling around. This remote is bulky. It's bigger than the standard Sony remote because it has a Radio tuner in it. One of the reasons I bought this was because I wanted the option of radio, but it's so annoying to carry around that I usually don't, especially with all those wires dangling around.
I also had to buy new earphones because the buds that came with it was to use with the remote, and it was way too short. Unless you want to clip the remote up around your chest and neck around, you have to buy new earphones. It's just too annoying.
The buttons are also really small. I have slender fingers, but I would think that if you have thicker fingers, you'd have some troubles, and also the buttons are kind of slanted to look cool, but it's not practical because you might be pressing the STOP button when you really want to skip to the next song.
The thing I hated the MOST was the software! It's just so complicated, I didn't even know how to use it. I'm usually okay with softwares. I'm not a computer pro, but I'm able to use basic software. I got my boyfriend to try to help me use it, and he couldn't use it either, and he's a computer-obsessed, so it's not just me! He gave me a simpler software from his basic Sony MD player that's a little bit older (maybe 1 and a half years). I was able to use that, but some of the songs wouldn't upload for some reason. I did get to upload half of the songs on my list. I don't know if sony is to blame, or my computer/song formats (although it was all mp3s and it should not have been a problem). Overall, it's really annoying to use this software program.
IN CONCLUSION
Well, it really looks cool, and it has a lot of options, but unless you don't think same about my annoyances with the product, it will be fine for you. I just wouldn't recommend this to a friend, because there are other things coming out that seems to be better - like the apple iPod.
