Pros: Beautiful sound for the price. Clear vocals and instruments (from electric guitars to violins.
Cons: Wish it had binding posts. Can be expensive at many stores.
The Bottom Line: If you can get it for less than 75, its a fantastic buy. Great for those on a budget but who still care about sound.

| genfizzy's Full Review: Sony SS-CN550H Center Speaker |
Now first, let me explain that I'm an audiophile in progress. And I am extremely cheap at times. Heck, I'll buy KLH speakers if the price is right. If nothing else, they make great 20 dollar door stops, but voice matching is difficult when you mix companies together. Despite these downfalls, I plan to upgrade my entire system, chucking these micro speakers that "came in the box." I started about a month ago with this silver chested fellow. I had thought from the start that the new line of Sonys had a particular aesthetic appeal that was lacking in many others. Bose is practically all appeal, no substance. JBL was great in sound, but were only worth showing off without their respective covers in place. Yamaha with their new piano finish speakers easily outshined the aforementioned companies, but I wanted to pass on the name, plus they were a little too expensive to not bypass on the way to JBLs. So I bought this Sony, and I was blown away. Vocals were precise and sound effects were never piercing like they were with my previous center speakers. And, since I had purchased a 51" Sony TV not one year ago, I took an immediate shining to the kinship between the two. I know that has nothing to do with audio, but why would you want a hideous speaker topping off your system, nobody says WOW to a Bose center channel speaker...Right?
I'll admit that the speaker is not perfect. The midranges on either side of the tweeter are rather cheap looking, I'm not really sure why Sony chose yellow to represent their quality line of speaker, but go figure. I sometimes wonder if a little more work should have gone into making these new Sony speakers stand up to some of it competition. I would even say that I don't expect this speaker to last me for that long (no more than 4 or 5 year) before I might buy a new one. But, that comes with the Sony territory. But, I would say that the improvements made in the past years has made Sony possibly the best budget speakers in the industry.
Now on to replacing the door stops on either side of my TV.
