| wiss's Full Review: Sony VAIO V505BX PC Notebook |
I've had this laptop for almost a year already and I'm quite happy with it but there are a few problems i've encoutered.
First of all, the notebook comes with 40GB Hard drive, by default the drives get seperated into C and D drive. I found out that if you add up the capacity of both C and D drive you would only get roughly 32-33GB of space in total, where is the other 7-8 Gb gone? I called Sony and they said the missing space is a hidden drive being used for backing up (this model doesn't come with recovery cd, you have to use Sony Recovery Wizard program to recover your notebook). So, now I only have 33GB of space of Hard disk i can use but that's not a big problem for me.
Second problem is the touchpad, after I bought it for about a few months, something has gone wrong with the touchpad. It starts not to respond properly so I always have to plug in my mouse to avoid this problem. I was told to download a new driver from sony.com to fix this which i did but it still doesn't fix this problem. Lastly, the battery life of this laptop is not so good as it is using P4 2.0Ghz not Pentium M. Usually it lasts for only an hour up to an hour and a half maximum unless you adjust the brightness of the screen to the lowest and you don't use the cd drive, the battery life may last for almost 2 hours.
