I was one of the idiots a couple years ago when the Sega Dreamcast came out because before I even heard about the Dreamcast I bought one and I regretted it. It was a failing system and you can now buy it for like 20 bucks when it costed 500 back then. The only good thing was Soul Calabur, now it comes back on a successful system and takes the well earned crown of Best Fighter EVER.
Graphics
I have barely ever seen graphics as good as these I mean they are bomb just like they were on the Dreamcast. I mean you can see their hair blowing around. Packaged with silky smooth movement and detail in facial textures and body parts (cough knockers). These are the some of the best graphics I have ever seen on the X-box. The game is rich in detail and beauty. Even if your looking at a character real close in profile mode, it doesnt look fake when you zoom in like in some other games.

Sound
The sound is clear and crisp. When you get slashed or hit it gives you a good sense of what it felt like. The character scream when they get hit and the slash is just sounds so real. Also when you hit the ground the cool THUD is just so realistic. There is instrumental music playing in the background during the battle but it sets the mood of the battle. Each character has about 100 phrases or sounds they make, each very unique to their character.

Story
Also surprisingly its story is fairly good unlike most other fighting games. You are a character who is trying to obtain the evil sword called the Soul Edge before evil get their hands on it. In the first couple missions you and your training buddy train with a master trying to learn how to fight. Then your partner becomes evil and you try to get the sword before him. But there are twists and turns and problems you face. Also each character has their own personal mission to accomplish to like Cassandra wants the sword to avenge her sisters death to the sword.

Controls
Wow is about what I can say about the controls. The controls are nice and responsive. You could move around and hit people is nice fluent controls. I could not find anything wrong with the controls.

Gameplay
The point of the game is to obviously to kill the other guy. You and the other guy fight with weapons such as swords, staffs, axes, etc. Each character has a unique weapon like Kilik has a big red iron staff and Taki has ninja swords. The game play is fun and addicting. In weapon master mode you are faced with challenges while fighting like you lose health over the time of the battle and the other guy does not or you can just play arcade mode which is your basic 1 on 1 no advantages battle. You can lose by either running out of life or falling of the arena. Each button does a certain attack like A= block X= horizontal attack Y= vertical attack B= kick. If you put these moves together you can get combo moves, there are hundreds of combo moves you can do by pressing the buttons in a certain order. Each person has over 100 combos no lie. But some of them are like impossible because you have to press like 14 buttons in a row. One of the attacks that are cool is if you press two buttons at once like A+? Lets say Y, A+Y and if you close to the other guy you do a grab move. The grab moves are awesome because they do huge moves, like Talim, if you do it behind a guy she will jump over the guy the to a huge two legged sideways kick. The only thing I see wrong is if you play two player and your friend cannot play good or does not know how he might press the same button over and over and it is hard to counter that in this game. Another problem I had was that I was made that you could not mix and match weapons. Like you cant let Talim us an axe when she uses twin swords.

Modes
There are so many modes in this game if you unlock them all it is crazy but I will do my best to get them all and do a description on them.
Arcade Mode: You pick a character and fight through 7 stages or a battle with another guy. Then you have a destined battle which is a battle between your character and his or her rival then the boss battle against a flame dude called inferno.
Vs mode: 1 vs 1 with you and your friend.
Time Attack: Aim for the fastest clear time
Survival: See how long u can go without getting killed
Team Battle: Battle using a team of characters
Vs Team Battle: Battle with your friend using a team of characters
Practice: A mode where you can hone your skill and learn new combos
Extra Arcade Mode: Play Arcade mode with the weapons you got in Weapon master mode
Extra Time Attack: Aim for the fastest time using the weapons you earned in weapon master mode. Also you can pick from standard, alternative, and extreme mode for this mode.
Extra survival: Fight your way through 1 round battles using the weapons you earned. You can pick standard which is normal, Death match which is 1 hit KO battles with 1 round which means go as long as you can and the person who hit the first blow wins. Then theres no recovery which means theres no recovery of health after the battle.
Extra team battle: Battle using team using the weapons you have earned.
Extra Vs team battle: Its Extra team battle but VS a friend.
Extra Practice: Practice using acquired items.
So basically it has a lot of modes but some are pretty useless because some are just alterations by using the acquired weapons.

Weapon Master Mode
Weapon Master Mode: This is where you will spend probably most of your time. This is where the story takes place and progresses. As you go through this mode you will go through chapters. Every chapter will have a certain amount of stages. When you beat a stage you will go on to the next one and get some gold. In every chapter are different shops which carry weapons, costumes, characters, options, playing modes, etc. When you go through chapters you will also find sub-chapters. In the sub-chapters are like sidetracks of the story, like you have to help the old lady find the gem in the temple or something. There are also some stages where you have to go through a dungeon. Its like D&D style like you see a graph and you click the square you wanna go to. Then you will do a match of fighting then do that again and again until you reach the end of the dungeon. At the end there will be a boss. If you beat him/her you will win a lot of gold in the dungeon and be able to move on. When you beat weapon master mode you will get an extra mission for each stage. As you go through the extra stages extra chapters will appear. Beat all the extra missions and buy all the stuff to beat the game (like I did). Its like the story mode. This is very well constructed but easy to beat if you master the game (like me).

Museum
This is the place where you can see stuff you unlocked like game art, battle theater, exhibition theater, character profiles, weapon gallery and demo theater.
Game Art: This is where you can see the art you unlocked. There are three different kinds, there are Hi-Res, Illustration, and Special. Special is like group photos of the characters and swords, just like miscellaneous things.
Battle Theater: You just watch 2 computer players fight and you can use the camera to rotate around them. I think this is kind of boring but some people might like it.
Exhibition Theater: You watch 1 character demonstrate a weapon of your choice that they use.
Character Profiles: This is where you can see characters information. You can tell like their age, Birthplace, Height, Weight, Birth Date, Blood type, family history, weapon, and personal history and mission. You can also see their home arena, Rotate around them with the camera, and listen to all the things they can say in the game.
Weapon Gallery: A place to see all the weapons you have unlocked and their description. (I have them all :)
Demo Theater: Place to view the cinematics that you have unlocked.
These are just add-ons to the main game, some are useless like the battle theater but some are cool like the character profiles.

Options
There are so many options you can change in this game. You can change the difficulty level, Fight count, Life Gauge start point, Round time, Character change at continue, stage selection, neutral guard, Help messages, subtitles, controller settings, display settings, and sound settings. You can also view the records, collection history, and saved files in the options screen. There just might be too much.
9.9
Characters
There are a total of 20 characters including the unlockable ones. There are weapons from swords to rods to axes. Each character has a different type of weapon. Also each character has 12 different varieties of their weapon. Like on might do more damage then another kind. Each character is unique and need different fighting styles for each one. Also as you might have heard, there are unique characters for each system it is on. Like PS2 has the old Tekken guy, Gamecube has link, and Xbox has Spawn. I think Spawn is the best but some might disagree but I personally like spawn
