| w1a5r's Full Review: TDK MOJO 256F (256 MB) MP3 Player |
The Mojo 256F is a great mp3 player. The biggest benefit is that you have an SD/MMC expansion slot which can add up to 1 gig more of memory. The expansion on top of the 256mb onboard memory gives you some of the biggest storage for a compact MP3 player on the market.
One complaint you might hear is that the TDK software supplied used to transfer files isn't that great. Well it's true but there is kind of a way around it. I bought a USB thumb drive that takes SD/MMC memory for $10. This is how I transfer most of my music. Just transfer the SD/MMC expansion memory card between the two devices, this also allows you to easily transfer any file types between computers, it comes in handy at school or work when I need to bring files back and forth. The TDK software still has to be used for the 256mb onboard memory but that is where I keep all my favorite music that I have no intension of moving so this was a one time file transfer for me.
Also since the USB thumb drive is 2.0 this resolves the slower 1.1 USB connection that the MOJO uses.
The quality of the player is great. I have listened to several other players including the iPod and have found the Mojo to be just as good or better. The FM radio reception is excellent, and the voice recording works great as well.
The players battery life is only 12 hours but I never have seen that as a problem, I use rechargeable AAA batteries that seem to last longer than 12 hours and they take no time to recharge. The loss in weight from most players which use AA batteries more than makes up for the shorter time in my opinion.
Overall, this is a great player that I highly recommend, it is very light and small which makes it great for active people, I use it snowboarding and it works great.
