| djn25's Full Review: iRiver iFP-795 (512 MB) MP3 Player |
I bought this mp3 player a couple weeks ago and I am pretty satisfied with it. I like how compact and lightweight it is. I can put it around my neck with the accompanying cord and have my hands free. I like that it uses a standard AA battery. This might be a con for some but I don't want to have to deal with replacing a special and expensive battery after a year or two has gone by and it won't hold its charge anymore. I'd rather use a standard rechargable AA battery thats easy to replace. I did have to buy earphones for it. The earbuds that came with it were lousy. No bass at all. Also, the software can't rip CD's which is a con for me. However, its compatible with Windows Media player so this wasn't a big problem. Also, if the software isn't installed, the player won't be recognize by the computer. For some, this could be a big problem. The biggest drawback for me is that when downloading from the computer it gets only some of its power from the USB so some of the battery power is also used. On the other hand, this unit is suppose to get 40 hours of use from one battery, which is double the listed hours of use for many other mp3 players, which more than compensates. Over all, I think the benefits of this player outweighs its few shortcomings.
