Mongolian Barbeque is a restaurant to go to if you like shredded hot food. Now that may not sound to good, but believe me, if you choose the right things to put in it, it can be. This is a fairly big sit down restaurant where the waiters and waitresses take your drink orders, but you are in charge of getting your food.
After placing your drink order, you walk up to the food item line. Here you will grab a bowl and find a whole assortment of different meats and fishes to combine with vegetables, oils, and spices. The choice of main meats varies by day and by restaurant, but usually they offer chicken, beef, fish, and turkey. All are very good. With your main meat you can add in and vegetable they have available, mushrooms are my favorite, and on to the oils and spices. Here, in different vats they have things like corn oil, terriyahki sauce, vinegar, etc. The choosing of the oil/spices is one of the key factors in how your meal will taste. They recommend that you put one oil on and then add a sauce on top of that.
Next you go on to the "ring of fire". This is a huge circular grill where a few cookers work on the bowls you give them. They use long wooden square sticks as their way to shred and toss around the food. After a few minutes on the grill, and some stick tricks by the cookers, they dice up your dish back into the bowl and hand it back to you.
When you get back to the table your drinks are waiting for you, as is a pita holder filled with soft pita shells. Some people eat their meals in these, or just right out of the bowl. You will find your dish hot, shredded, and always delicious.
I recommend Mongolian Barbeque to anyone who enjoys stir fry, or oriental food. This is one of my favorite restaurants and is a very good value. Did I mention once you finish that bowl you can go back as many times as you like for refills?
