| yenfur's Full Review: Einstein Bros. Bagels |
Bagels are my vice. I absolutely adore them, and have since I was very little. And Einstein's happens to have some of the best bagels that I have ever tasted.
Einstein's offers 18 different kinds of bagels for its consumers. There are: chocolate chip, blueberry, asiago cheese, cinnamon sugar, potato, cracked pepper potato, onion, power bagel, sesame, jalepeno, pumpernickel, salt, honey 8-grain, poppyseed, garlic, everything, sun dried tomato, marble rye, and of course plain.
At Einstein's, cream cheese is refereed to as "shmears" and they have many different variety. The expansive list is plain, strawberry, smoked salmon, sun dried tomato and basil, blueberry, cappuccino, honey almond, marble rain& walnut, jalepeno salsa, and onion and chive.
For those of you who want a baker's dozen of bagels, you can purchase that, along with two tubs of their cream cheese shmears for $9.99. A half dozen, plus one tub of cream cheese is only $5.99. A single bagel costs 65 cents, without cream cheese, and $1.89 if you want the shmear.
Sandwiches are also available at Einstein's Bros. Bagels. Egg sandwiches for the morning hours, and different varieties for the rest of the day. My favorite sandwich there is the chicken and smoked gouda on a sesame bagel. This is roasted chicken, smoked gouda, tomatoes, lettuce with raspberry grain mustard. At $5.29, this is not a cheap sandwich, but it is absolutely delicious. The veggies are fresh and crisp, and the raspberry grain mustard is simply wonderful. It tastes delightful, and with chips and a pickle, it is a perfect lunch. Sandwiches are available on bread, if bagels just aren't your thing.
One must take into consideration, that the bagel which Einstein's has is not exactly a normal bagel. It is a light, fluffy breadlike bagel, which is not like a normal bagel, which is heavier. This is very fluffy, and a bagel which you might want to try if you don't normally like bagels. For a more traditional bagel, Brugger's Bagels is an excellent choice (seeing as Einstein's and Bruggers are my two local bagel stores).
Things like muffins and other baked treats are also available, in addition to fruit and yogurt parfaits, soups, and a variety of coffees and other drinks. All of which I have tried at some time or another. I have never found anything there I haven't liked.
The service is good, but at times they can be a bit slow (especially since my local location is near a high school, and high school kids crowd in and make all sorts of odd requests). But I have never had a problem with the service, and always get exactly what I want.
So if you are not into heavy bagels, then this is an excellent place to try a bagel. Plus, their other food is very good, and the price isn't too bad (especially when you look and see 4 bagels for $2.69 at the supermarket!). Einstein's has a lot of variety, so chances are you can find something you really like too.
