I never knew what a "shmear" was until I started frequenting Einstein's Bros. Bagels about a year ago. In fact, until my nephew-in-law started working as a manager at one of the locations in Columbus, Ohio, I didn't really know much about bagels at all. I live in a smaller community about an hour south of Columbus and the only bagels I ever saw were in the frozen food or bread section of Krogers and Big Bear stores. Living in a small city has it's advantages, but great tasting food is not usually one of them.
Now I am smitten with bagels and have them as often as I can get to Einsteins. I absolutely love their bagels, whether I am having a chocolate chip one with some great Einstein coffee for breakfast or having an onion bagel with a shmear of vegetable flavored cream cheese for lunch. This restaurant is a favorite for me and my co-workers. You can easily get in, order, eat and get out within a lunch hour, with plenty of time left over for chatting or reading your daily newspaper. During periods of nice weather, I like to enjoy my lunch at the tables provided outside.
With 18 different types of bagels and 11 different shmears, the combinations are never ending! Add one of their delicious soups or salads and you have a complete dinner. The salads are always fresh and filling and the Asian Chicken Salad is my personal favorite. Yummmmmmm.... I like the fact that your meal is made right before your eyes, while you watch. You choose what you want as you are standing in front of the deli-style display cases, so you know the items are fresh.
They also have a "featured coffee" each day along with the normal "regular" coffees and assorted beverages. Did I mention the cookies and other baked goods? I really think you could eat at Einstein Bros. every day and never tire of the many and varied selections.
With my nephew-in-law's insider information, I am assured that all the bagels are freshly baked each morning and that all the other dishes are just as fresh. I never worry about cleanliness at the Einstein Bros. Bagels locations either because, again, I have talked at length with my nephew-in-law and I know that they have a good reputation for health and safety issues.
So if any of the Einstein Bros. executives are perusing the Epinions.com site and happen to see this review, PLEASE think about opening a store in Chillicothe, Ohio! We need you!!!
