Pros: Inexpensive, drive through windows.
Cons: The food was just average or below; the restaurant was not clean.
The Bottom Line: I won't seek out Wendy's again no matter where it is located. I think this chain has gone downhill since Dave passed away.

| jo.com's Full Review: Wendy's |
When the kids outgrew McDonalds Wendys was one of our top fast food restaurants of choice. This was in Natick, Massachusetts a town next to our hometown of Framingham, Massachusetts. Back in the 90s this location had a salad bar. In fact looking at the history of Wendys I saw that in November 1979 Wendy's became the first national restaurant
chain to introduce the Salad Bar. Not only did this location have a salad bar but it had a pasta and taco bar.
Those days are long gone as I saw in the Deerfield Beach, Florida location. There are three Wendys in this city. The one I went to most recently is located at 50 North Federal Highway. They can be reached at (954) 427-3707.
The first Wendys Old Fashioned Hamburger restaurant opened in Columbus, Ohio in 1969. Dave Thomas, Wendys founder, died in January 2002 leaving over 6,000 restaurants.
We have gone through the drive-through window that every Wendy's we have passed while traveling has. This was the first time in awhile we went into a Wendys. I was quite disappointed with what I found. I found a stand alone brick building with a sign that says "Quality is our recipe."
This location had about 25 to 30 tables. The décor was bland and boring. It was depressing truthfully. Many of the tables and booths needed wiping down. The rest room seemed cleaner than the restaurant.
At 2:30 on a Monday there was one other person eating. Perhaps this restaurant gets crowded. I know in the past that the corral to make the line more orderly was needed.
The clerk was not very welcoming. We walked through the corral, ordered out food at the register with the unhappy clerk and waited for our food to be put on the counter.
Locations have various hours particularly closing hours. This location is open until 1:00a.m.
We always liked the baked potatoes so we started with two of them. A very large broccoli and cheese or bacon or cheese potatoes costs $2.29. I got the former. The cheese was so hot it made the luke-warm potato hot. The broccoli pieces were not still frozen but they had been at one time. There was plenty of cheese and I liked the taste but this is not real cheese. You will be getting something like Velveeta or Cheez Whiz. This potato has 340 calories and 3.5 grams of fat. We could have gotten sour cream with this potato. I usually love the skin on potatoes but there was no way I was going to eat the skin in this restaurant.
We shared a mandarin chicken salad for $4.19. This dish wasnt bad. I used to love the grilled chicken at Wendys. It was one of the only chains I would get grilled chicken in. The chicken was white meat and cooked well. It was tasty actually. The salad greens were fresh enough for a chain like this. It had the usual assortment of mandarin oranges, a few pieces of sliced almonds and noodles on the top that were bordering on crisp. We got the Oriental Sesame dressing although they do have light dressings.
If you want to get a combo it will cost you $4.79 for a sandwich, fries or a salad such as the Homestyle Grilled or fried chicken. Unfortunately you can biggie your drink or fries for $.49. I have had the fries and compare them to McDonalds. They arent crispy like I like them but par for most fast food chains in my opinion.
A frosty dairy dessert which I have also had runs $.99 to $1.39. These are ice milk not ice cream. You will really have to have a major craving for something sweet to order what I think of as fake ice cream.
A station was set up with napkins, straws and condiments. The serve yourself beverage center has been replaced by the clerk serving drinks.
There is of course a kids meal which comes with a burger, or chicken nuggets, and fries, a drink and a toy.
My rating:
Can I say that all 6,000 Wendys have gone downhill and I will never go into one again? No of course not. I can certainly say I will never go back to this location. I can also say that based on this experience I would certainly think twice before I chose Wendys again. I cant recommend Wendys. I had a recent experience in Burger King which I will review that was superb (for a chain). A year ago I would have chosen Wendys over Burger King. Things change, stuff happens, Dave died.
