| jesusfreak5311's Full Review: Wendy's |
I really enjoy eating at Wendy's, but every time I go there at night it is always closed. They advertise about being open late, but they usually close around 10pm every night depending on the season. I went there last night but they were only open until 11pm. Their drive thru may be open, but who wants to sit in the car and eat. It seemed that last night the whole restaurant was closing including the drive thru. Often at night, I drive around with some friends looking for a place to eat and can hardly find anything except Burger King (yuck!). It would be nice if Wendy's would stay open later for those people like myself who like to eat late and night. Wendy's does not seem to have a regular schedule that is followed year round, and that is an inconvienence to the consumer.
As for the restaurant, I think that atmosphere is really good for a fast food place, and I have never had any problems with the staff (except for the time we got kicked out because only 3 out of 10 people in the group were buying food). But I thought that was very rude because we were not causing problems in the restaurant, just sitting and chatting. In the two restaurants in Sudbury, Ontario, there is plenty of seating room, with tables for two and tables for four. Also, most of the Wendy's in Canada are now smoke-free, which is a benefit to non-smokers or people with health problems.
The prices are cheap compared to McDonald's or Burger King. There are some specialty or limited time combos that are very expensive (over $6) but there are also good value combos, such as the 1/4 pound burger, medium fries, and medium drink for $3.99 Cdn. Most of the time I stick to the items on the extra value menu with items such as fries, chili, pop and one of my favourites, the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for only $1.39 Cdn. I can never to go Wendy's without getting a frosty, which is a cross between a chocolate milkshake and soft serve chocolate ice cream. The prices and sizes of this desert (which can also be substituted for a drink in any combo) are great compared to Dairy Queen ice cream prices.
Also Wendy's has about three or four kids meals to choose from including hamburger, cheeseburger, or chicken nuggets. All kid's meals come with a fry, drink or frosty, and of course, a toy. I think toys in the kid's meals are comparable or sometimes better than the ones in the happy meal at McDonalds. Occasionally some of their toys are very cheap, such as a passport booklet for children to write down personal information, or a diary for a vacation. Sometimes the toys are characters or items from a popular movie, or children's TV show.
Some Wendy's have a self serve salad bar, although the ones in Sudbury don't have this. Wendy's also serves pre-made salads, pitas, chili-cheese nachos, chicken nuggets, and different types for burgers, such as beef or chicken.
Three things I wish that Wendy's would serve are:
1) A poutine, since it is one of my favourite fast food items, and
2) Pepsi, my favourite kind of pop. Wendy's only serves Coca-Cola products.
3) Breakfast. I enjoy eating breakfast out, and I think that Dave Thomas would be able to offer interesting, good tasting, and decently priced breakfast foods. Also, it would give their restaurant more hours to be open.
