Pros: Great place to watch a game, a concert, or a circus. :)
Cons: Gets waay too smoky, rules aren't enforced, parking is expensive.
The Bottom Line: This is a cool place to go, but don't expect anything other than a large arena...and all the riff-raff that goes with that.

I have been to the Target Center for many events. I've taken in basketball games, concerts, conventions, and even a circus. Most of the time, this place is great. Every so often, you have a dud experience.
First season that the Target Center was around, my dad had been lucky enough to aquire courtside basketball tickets. I've also had the 'luck' to sit in the honest-to-goodness LAST row on the top tier. The courtside tickets are better. :) But, it isn't a waste of three hours to have to sit on top, either.
Basketball
This place is a great arena for basketball. There are great seats, ok seats, and the nosebleed section. I've sat in all three. No matter where you sit, it is possible to have a great time while watching the game. You can always see. If anything, you can see what's going on with binoculars that are available to rent or by watching the game on the big replay screen in the scoreboard that drops from the ceiling. It is easy to watch, very easy to get drawn into the game. They have the food vendors who climb all the steps...even to the last row. I've been to arenas where that is not the case. The entertainment can also be seen wandering around...in the bad seats as well as the good. Crunch (the mascot for the Timberwolves) often just wanders the arena. Every so often the cheerleading team will go sit on the stairs of a section in the second tier. You are definately not left out if you can't afford the $70 seats.
Concerts
I've also had the opportunity to see several concerts at the Target Center. They put the stage at one end of the arena, close off the seats behind it, sell all the rest. I've had the chance to sit all over for concerts, too. Sitting in the last row for the Red Hot Chili Peppers with my teenage brother and all his friends (6 of them!!) was a drag. Couldn't really see much, but you could definately hear, so that was a plus. The boys wanted to go to the floor where there was just general admission...no seating...but I didn't think that was a great idea. Then, not wanting to be the "uncool" big sister, I agreed. Thankfully, security wouldn't let us in without a general admission ticket. We were, however, allowed to move to better seats that were unoccupied.
One thing I HATE about concerts at the Target Center is that there is a cloud of smoke wherever you go. Which is ironic, because they have a "strict" no smoking policy. Baloney!! The do nothing to enforce the policy, and won't help or move you if you request it. My husband has asthma, and smoke makes it hard to breathe. We requested to move, or have the smoking people moved, but the management were of no help. Emails at a later date were not really responded to well.
The Target Center is a great place to go to have fun. Even with the problems I've had, I've never gone home not having had a good time.
