Pros: On time reliable service ,polite attentive cabin crew, Lots of great juice.
Cons: odd sometimes inedible food in coach. 747 coach cabin not really modern.
And limited Sodas.
The Bottom Line: Fly the airline, pack your own meals.Youll get to your destination on time and with enough juice to fill your bladder!

| voss749's Full Review: EVA Air |
EVA air has been flying for about 14 years and it seems like it is one of those airlines that in 10 years or so could be a world class airline.
The fare from San Fransisco to Bangkok was $700 roundtrip, the Evergreen deluxe fare I heard was apparently $900...I wish I had known that!
The airline was accomodating of me as much as possible. Even in coach I managed to get bulkhead seats on the same day of my flight on at least part of the flight each way.
The airline is punctual to a fault, the crew is professional and courteous (even bowing at the end of the flight). Ok this may be sexist but the flight attendants were certainly sweet and easy on the eyes.
They also managed to darken the cabin, which did allow me to get some sleep! The flight back one light wouldnt go out but they gave me some nice eyecovers.
You could not wish for a Hub better than Chang Kai Shek.
Even with no chinese speaking ability I was directed to the proper transfer flight. My only complaint about the hub is that it was a bit expensive.
Ok now for the complaint
1) The food- The chinese food Im sure is probably suitable for chinese palettes but the Western food they serve leaves a lot to be desired in coach. I'm sure the food choices in the higher classes is probably better. When I say inedible I don't mean you cant eat it ,I mean you don't want to eat it.
They make GREAT food in China, why not just offer us fried rice with beef strips...I'd be happy.
2) The 747 coach cabin did not have the video in the seats. In case you want to know the evergreen deluxe coach class does have them in the seats
3) The pilots speak excellent english but the cabin crews announcers english something to be desired. Which is odd because the flight attendants serving me spoke better english than the announcer.
4) The inflight program - The movies are decent, but the other programs are a bit cheesy. At least they used digital headphones. Of course if the programs had chinese dubbing on one channel, why they also need subtitles?
They are a great airline in waiting.
