Continental Airlines OnePass frequent flier program has the best Elite Levels of any Program. Not only is the Elite level of the program top notch, the entire program is awesome. Continental was among the few airlines several years ago who refused to put an expiration date on the frequent flier miles accrued by its passengers. They offer a fair amount of available frequent flier reward seats, not only to destinations no one wants, but also to exciting destinations such as Hawaii, Guam, Tokyo, London, and Paris.
From the prospective of the reward availability, last year I was able to get into Hawaii and Paris with little advance planning. In fact I got my ride to Paris worked out less than two weeks before departure. My Hawaii tickets were arranged less than a month before departure. Most folks seem to complain that without a years advance booking, they can not get to the best destinations. Might I even add that I went to Hawaii on a Saturday in each direction, which usually is even harder to accomplish with free tickets.
In addition to earning miles on your flights on Continental, you can earn miles on a full slate of partner airlines as well as at various hotel and car rental partners. For some folks, the Chase Continental Airlines Visa or Mastercard will earn them additional miles. This not only allows for use of a good credit card but allows accrual of more mileage while buying things as you would anyhow. Once at the Elite level you will receive bonus miles for your trips, which help expedite the accrual of miles.
At the Elite levels, space available upgrades are offered to fliers based on their Elite Level. The higher you are on the totem pole, the more success you have in earning those elusive free upgrades. I use the benefits to obtain First Class seats nearly every time I fly. In addition to the upgrades, elite level flyers benefit from much more rapid accrual of miles. This helps you take to the air even more often, but using free tickets. Of course you can use the miles to upgrade or take more exciting trips to exotic destinations around the world.
As a Houston based flyer, OnePass is the primary frequent flyer program, as Continental offers the most flights from Houston. The airline provides by far the best service in the air. (Read my review on Continental.) Given the great service in the air, and the excellent benefits for the frequent flyers, it is a hard to beat combination.
Coupled with great partners, Continental, including the OnePass Frequent Flier Program can make travel more enjoyable and will allow those who fly a bunch for work, to essentially earn free vacations for themselves and their family.
