Pros: Getting your Skymiles statement each month and thinking "Hey, I have a lot of miles"
Cons: Telling four people they aren't going to Vegas next month because Delta stinks!
The Bottom Line: Stay away from this program unless you like bait and switch...

| damayor1's Full Review: Delta SkyMiles |
We have used our Amex to make high end purchases for a couple of years and have accumulated gobs of Delta Skymiles. Problem is that when we wanted to take a fun trip to Vegas, flying 1st class, we find out that
1. Not only do they not even offer first class seating to Skymiles redeemers on the first leg of the flight (even though there is a first class seating section on the flight), but
2. They seem to arbitrarily (or perhaps maliciously) decide which flights qualify for the Skysaver vs. the Skychoice (which, incidentally, should be renamed Skyhigh) redemption rates. We tried being flexible about our flight out of Vegas to go home but apparently some tiny little man at Delta has figured out that if you have been in Vegas for three days you are probably hung-over and exhausted and would really like to relax in first class, therefore you are probably willing to pony up the 90,000 Skymiles to get out of Vegas. And, by the way, its funny that there are plenty of Skysaver flights going INTO Vegas
3. Once you are forced into flying coach for a segment of your travel, or you are faced with only the higher Skychoice redemption for a segment, you get no discount or consideration from Delta. For example, my round trip itinerary now has me flying six hours of coach, four hours in first class (two hours of which are under the Skychoice rate) and I now have to pony up the full 90,000 Skymiles per ticket.
The whole experience means that Amex is going to lose a client that charges 150k per year to their credit card thanks to Deltas scam.
