I will NEVER fly Frontier again! (Reply to this comment)
by neveragain74
I am absolutely disgusted with them. My experience was horrible.

Let me describe it in boring and gory detail.

I had to make a quick reservation to get to a Podunk town on the east side of Colorado. It was urgent so I did one of the online expedia/travelocity jobs in order to find a flight. Frontier was the cheapest so it won.

1. Flight from SFO to Denver. All went smoothly. Arrived on time, boarded on time. Yeah. Life was good.

2. Arrive in Denver and have two hour lay over (apparently it's impossible to fly Frontier w/out having a two hour lay over). I knew I was in trouble when my next flight was all the way in the back of the terminal, down a flight of stairs and then further trekking to get to my terminal. Only when I get there, they say "oops, wrong terminal". I look at my ticket "Terminal A 63", look at the sign "Terminal A 63". Okay. So I look at the attendant who stares back vacantly. "Um, excuse me but but where IS my terminal". To which so looked at me like I was the village idiot. "Oh, that's at terminal A 60 ALL THE WAY AT THE END.

I get to that terminal and they check me in. They had the baggage nazi there who literally wondered the terminal with pink tags harassing passengers in waiting. One poor girl was listening to her ipod to kill time when the baggage nazi walked up to her and LOUDLY proclaimed "There are no electronic devices allowed on the plane. Do you know that? No electronic devices on the plane".

Well, the flight lands. We get called to board and it's sitting on the tarmac and it's a propeller plane. Yeah. The co-pilot was also our flight attendant. He was very nice. Pleasant even and about three years out of high school (I guess pilots earn their jets by first flying these planes b/c all the pilots who were flying these planes were very young). It was a bumpy and tense ride but okay. Unfortunately for me face was glued to the window looking at suspiciously old parts. I envied the old guy sitting in front of me who zonked out.

All of the above I had chalked up to minor flaws. I didn't feel overwrought. The flights were on time and that was enough to make me cool with Frontier.

ROUND TRIP! Not on FRONTIER:

The return flight from Podunk to Denver was uneventful. Still a prop plane but they were on time and pleasant I couldn't ask for more.

Denver was another story all together and this is when it got BAD.

I arrived on time, wondered up through the long thruway, up the stairs and through the mini mall in the middle of the terminal and arrived at my with plenty of time to spare (remember two hour lay overs). I sit around for a few minutes gathering my stuff, checking my ticket to make sure I have the right terminal number. The flight listed on their message board was to Phoenix. Hmmm...? So I ask the attendant about my flight. She says, Nope...no flight going to SFO here. I look at my ticket "Terminal 40", I look at the sign "Terminal 40". Well, here we go again. "Where is my flight" I say on a sigh. She was kind of testy about it but she did find out it had been moved to Terminal 39 which you wouldn't think would be that far away. Nope, had to go through the mini mall to find it.

I get there and my flight is listed there. It took forever to get to the front of the line to check and be told that there was a miner delay of about 15 minutes but not to worry "Frontier will get you safely there".

I found a seat next to a nice group of people who were buzzy with annoyance. Apparently I wasn't the only getting worried. Flying is a nerve racking experience for a lot of us and as I'm a bit superstitious these kinds of things make me a bit twitchy.

30 minutes later they announce yet another terminal change. Terminal 26A. Yet another trek through the mini mall and down long thruways.

We get there and they announce "You're flight has been delayed for two hours. Your plane is stuck in Las Vegas for mechanical diffulties. It will be here just two hours later". So we all start making calls to rearrange pick up times from the airport. An hour later, they announce another delay for an three hours. By this time the mother of storms has blown. Well folks, now there was a tornado watch. Just peachy.

I got up to go relieve my inner tension (I had to pee) and when I came back, my terminal was empty. I thought my stomach was going to fall and then bounce a few times. I approach the attendant who looks ready to chew glass (I really did pity her. She was the barrier of bad news and that sucks). Turns out, my flight was canceled and we were told to go to Customer Service.

I stood for two hours in line with about 100 other people. We were told nothing but lies the entire time by the employees who deigned to stop and acknowledge us. Two hours spent in line and I moved two feet.

When anybody from the front of the line came our way we shanghaied and quizzed them for info. Now, I never heard this directly from a Frontier rep but from the people who had talk to them.

We were to be offered a hotel stay, vouchers for 15 dollars in food and to rebook our flight for the next day (sometime).

We kidnapped a poor employee and asked him what the heck was going on. He said "all flights are grounded. The airport is closed". I then looked out the window to see United taxi out to the landing strip. I then saw Ted and Fed Ex taxi out and I eye balled the employee and said "that's amazing because I just saw three different companies taxi out". Busted in a lie he was trying to convert me with some bad version of the Jedi mind trick. It didn't work. By this point is was a crowd ready to riot. Frontier had lost total control of the situation. They finally sent out some rep who had to try to communication with a 100 seriously annoyed people. It didn't go well for him.

I gave up at this point. I realized that I didn't care what I got of Frontier anymore. I was done. I needed to get home and I didn't have time to play footsies.

I called my husband who found me a flight on Southwest. They maybe a tight squeeze on my knees and I might have to get elbow chummy with the guy next to me but I got home, ON TIME (which now meant to me...the same day).

After getting home I called Frontier about my luggage (I had an hour to run to Concourse c when I was in A so my luggage became my last priority).
I called the customer service line, the got to the baggage line and guess what? They had no record of my baggage and said I should call never. I did. They said I need to contact the last airline I was on to make a claim for my luggage. Even though I said I never claimed my luggage for the flight. They wouldn't help me. They told me that that was the rule...AIRPORT policy. So I humored them and called Southwest. They said NOWAY, that's Frontier they are supposed to know where your luggage is. Well, they didn't and when I tried calling back at various times of the day it went to voicemail and they don't return phone calls.

Finally, I called SFO called me and said they had it. They'd had it for days. But Frontier had no record of it when I called.

I've kissed a reimbursement goodbye. It isn't worth the headache of getting the round around again but I know one thing. I will NEVER fly Frontier again!

I feel better now.

I had a similar experience with Frontier. My daughter flies Frontier several times a year to and from school in Minneapolis. A couple of days ago I made a reservation for her leaving mid-morning. Later that day she informed me that she needed to be back at school earlier in the day so I tried to change the ticket, but was told I would have to pay $100 to do that. Well, I had no choice, so I paid the $100, but I sure wasn't happy about it. I did the entire transaction on the internet so it wasn't as though I even had to use a reservation agent. She also doesn't go back to school for nearly a month so it isn't as though this was a last minute thing. I realize my ticket was a non-refundable ticket, but I wasn't asking for my money back. I will tell you--Southwest Airlines also has non-refundable tickets, but if you just want to switch the time of your departure or just cancel your reservation, you may do that without being penalized and you have an entire year in which to use your ticket. If only Southwest flew to Minneapolis!!!

I wish I would have read the reviews on here about this airline before I booked with them! I just posted my experiences with them tonight and I know just what you went through! No more Frontier for me!

Frontier is a Disappointment (Reply to this comment)

I have always been happy with Frontier Airlines in the past, however, it is clear that customer service has become secondary to them. They now charge $100 change fee...even when the request is made well in advance. I would have been happy to email them this complaint as opposed to making it public, but they must be worried that they will hear from too many people, as there is not an email address offered on their web site. Frontier Airlines now seems to have the big airline mentality, charging higher prices all the way around, yet not having the service to back it up. It is no longer my cheapest option for travel and I will not use them again if I can help it.
