| happy101's Full Review: Dawn Princess |
I am a four time veteran teenager on Princess Cruises. Compared to other lines (Carnival and Disney's Big Red Boat) Princess is the most luxurious and in my opinion the most fun. I have been on the Dawn Princess in Alaska, and in the Caribbean the Star Princess twice and the Regal Princess. Of these ships the Dawn is the newest, biggest, and most luxurious.
Cruises are great for kids because they can roam the boat on their own and parents have the comfort of knowing that their child can not escape anywhere (except maybe if they jump ship, but that is very difficult to do!). No matter what age you are there is always something to do. I definitely recommend that kids go to the kids programs, teens included. It is a great way to meet the other kids on board and once you meet them you don't have to go back, but its more fun if you do. On most boats there is a clubhouse with ping-pong, arcades, board games, kareoke, a tv, for older kids, and for younger kids similar toys appropriate for their age.
The best time of the year too take kids is around Winter break because there are tons of kids onboard. Spring break is ok, but since school have such varied vacation times, there are fewer kids.
The entertainment is great, although it is the same on all the ships. :-( The shows are enjoyable to both kids and adults!
Cruises are a great way to travel because you can take the whole family or friends, split up and do your own thing for the day, and meet for dinner. Every time I have gone on a cruise I have divorced my family for the week (since I was 12), except for meals and sightseeing, because I made such wonderful friends!!!
