I hope you didn't get the wrong impression.
I liked Berlin a lot. However (and I don't know how long ago you were in Berlin), it is a fact that Berlin is the biggest construction site in Europe. Yes, of course, there will always be construction in every city at any time, but...let's be reasonable about it.
As far as romantic/honeymoon destination--I'm sure Germans themselves wouldn't pick Berlin. Riviera, Venice, Paris--perhaps.
But, as far as learning history and going to techno clubs--Berlin is the place.

How can you say that?! If you are waiting for the construction to end you will be waiting forever - there will always be some going on. As far as not being beautiful/romantic, you were obviously not looking in the right places (I'll agree that it doesn't have the "romance" of Venice or such but still).
