Traveling to Costa Rica with children is a rewarding experience. I took my three kids, ages 6, 4, and 18 months, to Costa Rica in October. Everywhere we went the locals were generous and kind to our kids. The best spot we found was in Tamarindo at The Hotel Captain Suizo. The pool and beach are located next to each other so the kids had a choice of water spots. The restaurant serves healthy, fresh food throughout the day and evening. The bartenders were funny and made the kids special fruit smoothies whenever the kids were hungry. The poolside cabanas are perfect for families. They have a queen bed and a queen pull-out sofa for the kids. These rooms are located next to the pool, so one adult could be with the kids and the other could have quiet time in the room or patio and still see the kids in the pool. Great if the baby needs a mid-day nap. We traveled extensively throughout the country in a rented car. The rental company even had a carseat ready upon our arrival. We had not one bad experience and our kids are begging to return!! Try not to go in October though. It rained a majority of each day and the sunshine was limited. I've been in April and July and both months were superb weather wise.
