I never wanted to visit Branson, but ended up living in the general area, and am amazed with all the wonderful tourist destinations, that 6,000,000 people visit this "tacky" place. Sorry to be so blunt.....
The average age of the visitor is at least over 60, they usually drive a big car, and love to go 20 mph. Busses upon busses pile into Branson almost all year long. The traffic is unbearable.
Again, why do people come here. Beats me! There really are only a couple of nice hotels, NO good restaurants (unless you go south for about 20 miles to Top of the Rock)
Also, Branson is a poorly "designed" place. Cheap motels, all you can eat buffets for $4.99, and outlet malls. The traffic moves at about 1mph during 9 months of the year.
One serious comment, what is going to happen when the current older crowd is unable to visit, and the entertainers are no longer with us. I cannot see it being a place that the next generation will want to visit.
Ending on a positive note, Silver Dollar City, a theme park in the "Branson complex" is very nice, clean, and is indeed worth a visit.
To all of you that love Branson, "it's how I see it."
