Pros: It's a museum. Interactive screens. Life-like mannequins. Live historian on site.
Cons: Not quite as impressive as I was hoping.
The Bottom Line: The Tn. Civil War Museum is worth at least one visit.

The Tennessee Civil War Museum is located in Chattanooga, Tn. We visited this museum on our vacation this year.
Their brochure claims they are "One of the Most Advanced Museums Of its Kind in the World". I disagree. I believe that Fort Pillow in Henning, Tennessee, has a much better museum and the staff is very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. But, this epinion is about the Tn. Civil War Museum in Chattanooga.
The museum is located at the foot of Lookout Mountain. I was able to locate coupons at a visitors center, for buy one admission, get one free. Children six and under, get in free.
The museum has a historian on their staff who gives talks and demonstrations on various subjects such as uniforms, equipment, weapons and tells realistic stories about the war.
Their mannequins, dressed in authentic hand-sewn uniforms are very life-like. One of the things I liked about this museum is that it ALSO focused on the contributions of WOMEN and African-Americans. Many museums of this nature do not.
They do have an impressive weapons collection. I enjoyed looking at the various articles in the glass displays. Included, were dresses that women and little girls wore during this time period.
There were many interactive touch-screen film presentations for us to view. However it was a bit difficult for me to hear them as my children went through and started all of them at the same time. We did sit in a small viewing room with a large television and watched a video that gave an over-view of the war. It was very interesting to watch.
My children did not enjoy the museum as much as I did. I would have enjoyed it more, alone. There is free parking and they are open daily, all year long. Their hours are from 10:00 am - 6:00 p.m. It's worth a visit, at least once.
