Pros: Outstanding food, swarming service, meat, meat and more meat.
Cons: Pricey (at $50-$60 pp with drinks)
The Bottom Line: Bring your checkbook and your appetite and Texas de Brazil will take care of both. Best variety of meats I've tasted in years. Outstanding service.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one… Seriously , the Texas De Brazil restaurant in Addison is absolutely worth a visit for those meat-lovers out there. You will leave drooling either because your stomach is full or you hadn’t been able to sample all fourteen styles of meat.
The Story
An Englishman, an Irishman, a Scotsman, an Armenian and a token Yankee are looking for a steak restaurant in Dallas. All the recommendations we receive are for branded restaurants you could visit anywhere (like a Mortons or a Lawrys). So its time for something different – we all pile into a car and drive along Belt Line Rd looking for “Texas De Brazil” on the advice of a complete stranger we meet in the bar beforehand. Pulling into the parking lot, the restaurant looks fairly non-descript, but the lot and the grounds are neat and well-maintained. We wander in, and hang around in a well-stocked bar for ten minutes while they set up our table. Bar service was pleasant and efficient, aided by the fact that a soccer game was being shown on the TVs behind the bar. The clientele was varied, from a few suits and jackets down to our party in shorts and nice polo shirts.
The maitre d’ took one look at us, heard the variety of accents and decided to hide us away at a round table in the corner of the restaurant. We torment the Irishman by telling him to sit at the head of table…
The Food
Texas de Brazil, bills itself as an authentic Brazilian churrascaria. The basic premise is that after feasting at a forty item seasonal salad bar, including meats and various soups yo sit at your table and are surrounded by a horde of waiters trying to persuade you to eat whatever they are carrying. In front of you is placed a small colored disk, one side green, the other red. As long as the green side faces up, you are bombarded with opportunities to gorge yourself on the meat. Turning the red side up means “No Mas”, and you get to take a break.
The Salad Bar and the Brazilian Cheesebread provided more than enough variety to wake up the palate, and then the procession arrived. As a diner you are offered the following choices – as much and as many as like, and as many servings as you can cram into your expanding waistline.
Chicken Breast with Bacon
Crispy Chicken Legs
Parmesan Crusted Pork Loin
Brazilian Sausage
Herb Marinated Pork Loin
Rack of Lamb
Roasted Leg of Lamb
Filet Mignon
Filet Mignon with Bacon
Seared Top Sirloin
Flank Cut
Beef Ribs
The meat is brought to your table on a skewer, and depending upon the cut, you are either given a chunk or a slice. Accompaniments include season roast potatoes and bananas. After a while you learn to pace yourself and get choosy over the next dish to try. My personal recommendations are the Parmesan Crusted and Herb Marinated Pork. The Brazilian Sausage was highly recommended by the bar staff but I found it to be very sweet. Both the chicken and filet mignon wrapped in bacon were outstanding, although several members of the party thought the bacon was overly fatty. The Crispy Chicken Legs were the only real disappointment. A horseradish dipping sauce and a tasty green herb sauce were also provided.
Dessert consisted of Turtle Cheesecake, Crème Brulee, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Key Lime Pie and the house specialty, a Papaya Cream. This was actually light cream mixed in with papaya juice and pureed papaya – very tasty and not at all heavy.
Final Comments
The food just keeps coming until you beg for mercy or dessert. Our Scottish friend forget to turn his “feed me” tag to red and was still swatting away food five minutes after the rest of us were finished. The food was outstanding, the service friendly (try explaining “Paging Dick Hertz” to a Mexican) even under duress, and the company was excellent. I’d absolutely recommend this restaurant (or its two Dallas neighbours) to anyone looking for a place to take hungry friends or business associates. Personally I’d like to visit their location in Aruba, but I guess I’ll have to work on that.
