The Zoo in Gulf Breeze is more like a park than a Zoo. Now the appeal may be the quiet area, which in turn causes it to not be very busy. Or perhaps it is because most people already know that it is not worth the price tag to go there?
There is the usual, petting zoo, birds, some farm animals (I saw plenty of these growing up in Western N.Y.) We found a few otters, and one or two wild cats. There is a giraffe, but no elephants to be found. I would say the best animals are the gorillas and monkeys.
We found it to be open with a lot of space in between exhibits, which added to the feeling that we were walking through a park. All this would have been fine if it was not for the double price tag that this zoo carries. I have been to 7 other major zoos, and all cost less than Gulf Breeze. I feel that if they are going to charge double, they should have something to show for it.
I will give them one good point, the best thing we could find, and that was the open area the animals were allowed to roam in. We had to walk along a large, long wooden walkway to an overlook. Here we could observe the animals wandering around, well that was if they were close enough for us to even see.
I do not recommend this zoo, I believe that it targets tourist and that is why it charges double what other larger, more interesting zoos charge.
