| mcgypsea's Full Review: Ober Gatlinburg |
In early December, we planned a family get together over the New Years holiday. We decided after gathering information, using the web site " www.askjeeves.com" to meet at Gatlinburg. The accommodations we obtained using the internet were of good quality and a fair prices. The town of Gatlinburg was a quaint, picturesque town with lots to do for everyone to enjoy. We rode the gondola for seven dollars per person, kids were free, and there was a senior citizen discount. If you plan to ski the price of the gondola will be subtracted from the ski slope lift ticket. The lift tickets are $35 and ski rental is $15 with a senior discount. Everything was well organized and the staff was courteous and helpful. The availability of meals was very limited. The price of beer was three dollars for a small glass. After arriving at the resort we concluded that it would have been better to drive up the mountain and bring a packed lunch in the car. There was limited outdoor tables to eat from. The amount of snow reported on the web site "www.weather.com "was between 30" to 35" of snow the day before we arrived. When we got there the snow was only 6"to 12" manmade and only 60% of the slopes were open. What slopes were open had sufficient snow and were well groomed and we enjoyed the skiing. I would advise calling and obtaining a local ski report.
