| cjg's Full Review: Radio City Christmas Spectacular |
I am a native New Yorker, and used to go to Radio City with my parents every few years. I had last been to see the Christmas Show maybe three years ago with a friend, and had a great time. This year, I went again, this time with my girlfriend, who is originally from Baltimore.
It was magic.
Suddenly, I was in the Christmas spirit.
While half of the show remains roughly the same every year (the March of the Wooden Soldiers, the Nativity, the Nutcracker), the cast brought me back about 20 years.
One of the nice things about Christmas being once a year is that you can easily evoke the memories of being a child, running to the tree to rip the wrapping paper that held you from your toys. This show puts you right back there, under the tree, with visions of snow and Santa reveling across the sky.
My girlfriend loved it. She was in awe at the precision of the Rockettes, of the choreography, the music. We’ve been to a few Broadway shows, but nothing can match the Christmas Show at Radio City.
We sat at the back of the lower level, underneath the overhang of the upper level, so we could not see the very top of the stage. Nonetheless, I am glad that we went.
Take your children. Take your parents. This is one event that will bridge the generation gap, and make everyone feel young again.
