Avis hardly tries at all

Pros: Shuttle service was prompt.
Cons: Airport rental staff was incompetent, unprofessional and rude. Will Never Rent Avis Again!!!
The Bottom Line: Do not rent Avis car rental in Florida. They are incompetent, unprofessional and rude.

I recently rented a vehicle at Avis rental center at West Palm Beach, Florida for the period of April 16 to 23, 2005.
What an awful experience. First of all we reserved a mid size car only to assigned a huge eight cylinder full size boat. We had to wait over an hour an a half as they tried to locate that boat which we had to reject because of its size and the price of gas in Florida, (nearly $2.50 per gallon).The office manager made numerous mistakes on our billing statement which I had to point out to him. He would then have to begin the paper work all over again.This happened three times! When we finally got a mid size vehicle we showed the desk attendant the address to the resort we would be staying at and asked for directions. She handed us a generic card as said the printed instructions would get us there. I confirmed the address with here and she rudely stated the card would get us there! The directions were 30 miles in the opposite direction. As a result we had to turnaround and drive 50 miles to the resort .We wasted over Six hours of vacation time thanks to the incompetent staff at Avis.
