Sorry you've had such poor service. If I were you I'd report whatever office you rent from higher up the chain as it appears they do try to strive for quality customer service.

Not Always So (Reply to this comment)
by ulysses4
Unfortunately, my experience with Enterprise in Western Mass. has been a tad drearier. My cars come from a dealer 65 miles away, which is worth the drive. When I have had to limp in to the nearby dealer, I have been given the Enterprise option (as opposed to the free loaner down south). Recognizing that imbalance, I still have plenty of experience with rental cars in my job (about 85% Hertz, the balance National and Budget).
The Enterprise cars I have been offered are uniformly high mileage, stripped down and in offensive colors. Some have even had a tobacco scent. The rates have been cheap, and the cars have looked it. Ulysses4

I'm supposed to visit a friend in Atlanta in May, so I'm going to use them again there. I'll be curious to see how they compare!
Thanks for the comment!

Thanks - it's interesting to hear that!
As part of my insurance policy with Geico, I took out rental car coverage. I'm pretty sure it's 100%, but I'll check. I don't rent cars that often, but the CDW is something I just hate paying. I think I'd rather pay the $500 out of my own pocket if I had to.
It's sort of like the mortgage tax here in New York. I could have gotten a bit lower of an interst rate from another company, but if I'd refinanced with a company other than the one who currently holds my mortgage, I'd have to pay the state mortgage tax. That just kills me, so I'd take the 1/4 higher percentage point.

He's tied to Priceline :-)
How about photon torpedoes mounted behind the front grill of their cars?

experiences with them. One was very bad. I think I did a review when that happened though I think I noted that I had also used them in another state with no problem. Glad all went well! jo

I am so glad you enjoyed your experience at Enterprise. I am a manager at a location here in Kansas City, and it looks to me like everyone treated you perfectly.
I'll give you a couple of "inside" hints. First of all, the reason that everyone at Enterprise is professional and kind is because we are rated on something called ESQI. Every month a survey is given to randomly selected customers. We have to have 80% of our customer 'Completely Satisfied.' This is how we get paid. Everyone who works for Enterprise has a 4 year college degree, and they work as a team for their own branch. The branch's success is what we're paid on, mainly the customer service numbers and the profits for the branch.
As far as the extra insurance goes, it's usually actually a pretty bad idea if you don't take it. At my branch, the rate is $14.99 a day for damage waiver. If you DON'T take the waiver you are responsible for paying Enterprise your full deductible and putting a claim on your insurance if anything happens to your car. If you DO take the waiver, you are NOT responsible for the car. You can wreck the car in 50 different ways and you don't have to pay a thing and you don't have to put a claim on your insurance.
Case in point, I had a woman refuse to take it the other day who came back to our branch with her entire bumper cracked in half. Instead of paying the 14.99 for the one day of Damage Waiver, she chose not to and she owed us $500 on the spot.
Insurance brokers who tell you not to take this can be liable if something happens to the car. The ONLY way the damage waiver is already covered is if you use a Diner's Club card. They have an agreement with Enterprise, to pay the damage waiver when someone rents from us. Also- if you are driving the car for a business, they also usually have their own coverage and you would not be expected to pay the waiver.
FYI- on the weekends it's possible to get a car for as low as $10/day. Rates change but don't really change- we are allowed to be flexible with 'guideline rates' and we usually keep consistent with what people 'usually' pay in subdivisions and neighbourhoods. You can ALWAYS haggle about the price of the car at enterprise. You'll more than likely ALWAYS get your own way. The customer MUST be happy. This is the case only in retail sales, not insurance claims or body shop claims or dealership claims. We have a set rate for the dealerships, body shops and insurance companies, there is only so much they'll pay. But if you want to get a car for pleasure, you can get one pretty cheap if you know how to bargain! If you ever need a car for pleasure, send me an email and I'd be more than happy to set you up with a good rate. Now you know someone on the 'inside.' ;)
This review was very thorough, I enjoyed it. :)

Darn! I was about to say something along those lines! Patti and Enterprise? A no brainer.
I wonder why they don't get Bill Shatner to do their ads? :-)

I think you just chose this company so that you could be at the helm of an Enterprise.
