| Dionne25's Full Review: Test Track Pavilion |
We decided to visit Epcot on Friday, and walking through the United Kingdom, we decided to check out a few of the attractions. When we got to Test Track Pavilion, the Stand-By wait time was 120 minutes, and there were no more Fast Passes being issued. I found that to be rather strange seeing that it was around 6:30 in the evening. We found out there was a Single line. You'll get on the ride, but you won't be sitting with your friends or family, even if you have a young child with you (something I find a little strange). Candice, her dad, Cathleen and I were on the Single line and decided to separate on this ride. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
Anyhow, we're waiting on the Single line underneath the Test Track ride (which when a car would pass by, the ride would shake very violently). We were on line for maybe 10-15 minutes tops, and we were taken into a briefing room, where we are shown a clip of the test control room. The whole point of this ride is to test the durability and functions of a car. They'll be testing the car in many different weather and road conditions, with a few added surprises. We then wait on line to go for our test drive.
The "car" seats three to a row, six to a car, and you're strapped in as you would in a regular car. As the ride started, we're riding along the track. We start to ascend the hill, and as we make it to the top, we come to a sudden halt. At first, I thought it was part of the ride, seeing we would be testing out different driving conditions. But after sitting in the same spot for about 5 minutes, I started to wonder what was going on. When one of the cast members showed up at our car and told us we had to evacuate the car, my suspicions started to get the best of me. When I heard the announcement over the loudspeaker that the ride was temporarily suspended, I thought, "Oh man, why now?"
When I saw Candice, however, I got really worried. Then she tells me that she may have separated her shoulder because her car came to a hard stop, causing her to jerk forward and the seatbelt to come off track. After looking at her arm, I could tell something was wrong. Her right hand had blown up very visibly, and she was in A LOT of pain.
One of the cast members takes us to the First Aid on the premises and I have to say, some of the staff members seemed to be as competent as a dust ball. Apparently, the doctor on call left for the day because it was after 5 p.m., and they don't have any other doctors on call (even on the weekends). So God forbid someone gets hurt over the weekend, they have to basically fend for themselves. That doesn't sit well with me. In the end, after repeating the story about 5 or 6 times, Candice ended up with her arm in a sling and we were pretty exhausted and decided to head home for the day.
This was a pretty disappointing encounter. We didn't get to go through the entire ride, and frankly, I don't plan on going back. What a shame.
