It was about, eh, well, lets just say it was a nice day outside in the Orlando area of Florida and we decided to visit Magic Kingdom, Disney. Of course, my little cousin, Matthew, just had to drag me to the Indy Speedway! And, of course, we had to take a picture inside the model race car at the entrance of the line.
Lines
I had been on the race cars at the Indy Speedway before, and knew that it was going to be an unpleasant ride. I was used to the long lines ranging to over one hour sometimes. But that day, good luck was with me and we only had to stand in the sun for about 20 minutes. There were umbrellas spaced out about every ten feet to give you some shade.
It came time for us to board the race car and we did so.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
Well, the car was already on from the last person that used it so there was no point in starting our engine like the announcer said to. However, it was the norm to say this in a regular race. Yes! Going seven M.P.H. was going to be such a great race, right? Of course, a small child would enjoy something like that, and this ride is to entertain smaller children.
Car
The race car had advertisements on it, and had a number on it. It also seemed to need a new paint job, and it seemed to be very old. The leather on the seats was dirty and had small rips, the seat belts were worn out, and smelled like it had too much gas coming out of the back.
The car is a model of what a 70s race car would be like that would really race on the Indy Speedway.
Ride
So we were off onto the track. For safety, the steering wheel doesnt work, the pedal is already half way down for you, and the tracks are divided by rubber lines so the car doesnt hit another car. Of course, the bouncing of the wheels from one side of the rubber line to the other side of the rubber line didnt make the ride anymore fun or safer. This could have easily been avoided if the steering wheel worked, but unfortunately, it didnt and we had such a bumpy time.
The track is less than a mile long and is in the shape of a circle with a few extra little turns. It goes next to and around other rides, and there is a viewing stand near the entrance for those who would rather watch than ride. Of course, you shouldnt be scared to ride just because you may
~Throw up from all the bumping motions of the car from one side of the rubber line to the other.
~Smell the gasoline and have your nose clogged and perhaps become seriously sick.
~Loose all your belongings such as hats, glasses, or little kids from all the sickening motions.
My Thoughts
I didnt enjoy the ride at all. I hated the way the car was so bumpy when going from one side of the rubber line to the other. They probably cut the cords from the transmission system to the steering wheel so you have no control over the car. I also hated that the smell of the gasoline was with us constantly. It is very unhealthy and someone could get seriously hurt when inhaling too much.
Matthews Thoughts
Matty didnt mind all the bumpiness and the bad smell. Of course, anyway for him to get in the drivers seat is just fine and I dont blame him. Just, for his safety, not to use the Indy Speedway to get in the drivers seat. On the way out, he remarked that It was fun! He started pulling me to the line again, but I distracted him by telling him that we should go on Splash Mountain instead.
What Disney Can Do Better
Disney obviously did a horrible job with the Indy Speedway and I would never risk going on it again. Maybe if they...
~Make the steering wheels work.
~Perhaps oil the pedals.
~Maybe even get new cars.
...then maybe, just maybe Ill go back on with Matthew.
