I thought most of your review was right on the mark. I agree that the "No Judgments" thing is total BS - never before in my life have I been so aware of at least a dozen guys checking out my butt while on the Smith machine, either directly or via the bouncing reflections of the ubiquitous mirrors. Men would constantly come up to me while I was on the weight machines to "help" me use it correctly. Never mind that I'd been using it in exactly the way they proposed before they ever started talking to me.But I digress.I seriously think Crunch is one of the biggest meat markets for straight men and women and gay men.
I'm disheartened to hear that they're still making people sign that sleazy 6-month minimum contract.
I found your info about the 42nd Street branch funny and informative; that branch didn't exist when I was a Crunch member. Somehow,it doesn't surprise me that they were, ahem, a little hyperbolic about the basketball court and pool.
I also played phone tag with Corporate for a year and a half when I tried to cancel my membership.Utterly infuriating.
My head was spinning trying to figure out all the little angles Crunch is using to bilk people out of more money with the Bally's thing. That info was new to me, which made your review one of the best about Crunch that I've read (so far, at least).
No wonder you're quitting. Thanks for a great review.
