| CRXLover88's Full Review: Sugar Busters! |
Believe me - I've tried everything - Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Medifast, even a medically supervised diet that required injections of HCG (HCG is produced from urine from pregnant sheep - no kidding!) and I couldn't lose and/or keep the weight off for any period of time. Not until I tried Sugar Busters.
You have to go into any diet - actually I shouldn't even call it a diet - it has to be a lifestyle change or no diet will work over the long haul. Back in 1994 my doctor put me on Paxil as he thought I was depressed (mid-life crisis). I rapidly gained 50 lbs. and no matter what I tried, couldn't get that 50 lbs. off - it was very stubborn.
Finally I tried Sugar Busters. So far I've been able to lose 27 lbs. of the 50, but I have had a few cheats along the way. I know it's going to take a while, but I'll eventually get the remainder off.
Sugar Busters is an easy to follow plan that can easily be adapted so other members of your family can eat the same food. No special meals to prepare just for you.
The authors of Sugar Busters go into great detail (in an easy to understand format) explaining how excess sugar is the culprit, not fat. Fat should still be eaten in moderation, though. It is a low sugar, NOT no sugar plan that incorporates all the major food groups. It is based on the glycemic index whereas certain foods will raise your insulin level, causing you to store fat.
Basically, just about any meat is OK to eat. Certain carbohydrates are not allowed as they have a high glycemic index: no white potatoes, white rice, beets, corn or carrots are allowed. No bananas, watermelon, or raisins. All other fruits are ok, as long as they are eaten either 1/2 hour BEFORE, or 2 hours AFTER a meal.
Label reading is a must on this diet, as no portion should be over 3 grams of sugar. Portions are supposed to be in "moderation", not to extend over the flange of the plate.
There are many hidden sugars found in just about everything; corn syrup, dextrose, maltodextron, maltose, glucose - almost anything ending in "ose" is a hidden form of sugar.
Sugar Busters is not a starvation diet; in fact, most of my daily menus have averaged between 1500 to 1700 calories per day. You still need to drink 1/2 gallon of water per day (at least), and moderate exercise (I usually walk 2 miles per day when weather permits).
What other diet permits you to eat peanut butter (the natural sugar free kind) and drink wine occasionally? It's very easy to stick with.
