Pros: 90+ MPG! Fast enough! $4.00 for a fill-up!!! Cons: Not made for tall people. Kids want to ride it all the time.
I just purchased a 2003 Metro. You may hear about Metro 1's and Metro 2's. The 1 really doesn't exist. It is actually the Metropolitan. The version 2 is Metropolitan 2. To make things easy, lets just call them 1 and 2. The 1 goes up to 38 mph on the ...
"You meet the nicest people on a Honda." So goes the long running Honda advertising slogan from the 60's and 70's. It seems that these days, motorcycles are all about a phony rebel or bad boy image. Posers and wannabes; that's who the motorcycle ...
Pros: fuel economy, ease of parking, no motorcycle license required, reliability, FUN TO RIDE. Cons: saying "NO, not a vespa!"
last month, i bought a used 2004 honda metropolitan with ~4000 miles on it. simply said, it was one of the best decisions i ever made. i've already put over 200 miles on it, and have only had to fill it with gas twice ... not really fill, it still had a ...
Pros: Great gas mileage, fun to ride, no tag required in Georgia, cheap insurance Cons: Not a lot of power, bad traction on gravel/dirt
It's a great scooter, and I'm getting closer to 100 mpg than the 90 we were promised. We use it to/from work, which is about 3 miles each way. Also good for a quick trip to the grocery.
Ours needs a bit of tweaking -- the brakes are squeaky and need to be cleaned, and the idle's set a bit too low (it stalls sometimes at a standstill) -- but these should be easy fixes.
Climbing hills, this scoot shows limitations due to the small engine. At full throttle, you'll chug along at 25 mph or so. Straightaways are more like 35 mph. ... Without more power, I'd be uncomfortable taking this on four-lane roads for any long stretch.
There's great under-seat storage -- room enough for a full-sized helmet.
Great neighborhood transportation. by long_ranger ,May 20 '06
Pros: Carefree. Simple. Adequate power for what it is intended for. Great fun and cute. Cons: Brakes should be stronger. Should have some kind of shiftable low range for steep hills.
Perfect for those who have short low speed commute to work. Quick trips to the grocery, hardware store, post office, library, video rental place... Anywhere you can get to without busy roads with speed greater than 35 MPH or steep hills.
I would not advise the 2. The little machine needs all it's juice. Get the the regular Metropolitan.
It is my wife's mothers day gift. She is getting lots of people ask about it. Really turns heads. Happy little machine. She loves it. I ride it too. I am 250 lbs and it carries me well. I can get up to >35 easily, long as I am not climbing hill.
I ride the big ones too. Current MC is ST1300. I am not afraid to be seen on the little Metro. It is great fun in it's happy carefree way.
With energy prices up at $3.00 and probably only going higher, scooters are smart choices for transportation. The Metropolitan is one that will provide trustworthy service for years and years.
Pros: 90 MPG, 37 MPH (faster than most 50cc scooters) Cons: Requires insurance and license plate (at least in SC)
Great bike for scooting around town and small trips to the store. Very comfortable seat and easy to ride. Top speed of 37 MPH and 90 MPG full consumption. I use my to get to work everyday (2 mile ride). I find that riding a scooter in the city I actually get around town faster than I do when I have to drive my car.
Pros: I can't say enough good stuff about it ;-) love it!!! Cons: there really isn't any sorry
My boyfriend bought my Honda Metropolitan for getting good grades in my A&P class...:) what a sweetie( I drive it back and forth to work and just well, everywhere I go. In good weather I never drive my car just the metro. I love everything about it. Like everyone is saying it gets like 100 miles a gallon so that's cool..plus it just so cute it makes people smile..you gotta love that. The only bad thing..make sure to keep it locked up. Someone tried to steal mine one night and messed up the ignition and tore the front panel off. No worries though..I got it fixed and became a little bit smarter so
