Good entry level luxury car

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior, Fun to drive, Improved Reliability, Beautiful design
Cons: Maintenance cost, cargo space, and navigation cost.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vehicle for young professionals looking to move up within a business. The car has both style and performance.

The 2004 Jaguar X-type 3.0L AWD is a great entry level luxury car but a little bit pricey. This car is comparable to the BMW 330xi and the Mercedes C-class, but cost a little bit less. The Jaguar that I purchased back in 2004 was fully loaded for a ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: It's a Jaguar! Acceleration, styling, sporty ride, luxurious.
Cons: Small back seat.
The Bottom Line: This car is the finest car I have ever purchased. I love to drive it, I love to look at it. No better deal for the money.

There is no accounting for individual taste! Cars are an emotional item and these reviews prove that. I don't know how anyone can compare this car to a Mondeo or Ford Contour, or any other Ford product...what are these people thinking! Since I first ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Style, Price, Fit, Driving Pleasure, Jaguar Image
Cons: Rear seat room, Owner servicability, Possible unfulfilled expectations
The Bottom Line: A great entry level Jaguar, priced below the competition, vast improvement in Jaguar quality

What it is and what it is not Before you ask what the new X-Type Jaguar is it might be better to understand what it is not. It is not a $120,000 XKR Jaguar or SL600 Mercedes Benz. It is not a $60,000 5 Series BMW or LS 430 Lexus. But at ...

Rusty Jag

Pros: Quality Interior Nice Looks
Cons: Horrible Customer service...too much noise from car...rust from a design defect
Purchased my 2004 Jaguar in January 2005 with 900 miles. After it hit 3,000 there was rust on the trunk lid where the trim was rubbing the paint....dealer repainted. Whining noise.....dealer replaced drive shaft.....still whining noise....dealer now says I need 4 new tires with only 9800 miles on the car!! Rust returns to trunk also AGAIN...dealer repaints trunk for 2nd time and does very POOR paint job. Okay by this time disappointment would be putting it lightly. I contacted Jaguar Customer Service and got absolutely NO help EXCEPT the would give me 250.00 toward new tires. So now that I am finally just FED up. What kind of problems would I have at 40,000 miles?? I traded the car after owning it for only 16 months. Don't waste your money on this one....you will be disappointed.

Pros: All wheel drive, friendly dealership service department
Cons: Quality, quality, quality. Jaguar of North America customer service.
Let's keep it simple.
1) Drive shaft replaced because of whirling drivetrain noise and vibration at 5000 miles. Problem persists.
2) Transmission self destructs at 14000 miles
3) Left rear hub fails at 16000 miles
4) Both key fobs no longer work after 16500 miles
5) Problems with fuel delivery system. Fuel rails replaced. Problem persists.
6) Various trim issues.

I've owned a BMW, Acura, Mazda, Buick, Volkswagen, 2 Hondas, and 3 Fords. This is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned, hands down. Over 20 days in the dealership the first 10 months of ownership. Worst part: Jaguar of North America simply doesn't care. I'm left holding the bag. Buyer beware.
