Pros: The usual Lexus virtues--smoothness, quietness, and interior finish--with added "trucky" flavor. Cons: Annoyingly grabby brakes, "trucky" handling, poor fuel economy, clumsy third-row seat. The Bottom Line: If you want a midsize luxury SUV with three-row seating, the GX is one of few choices out there. For most buyers, however, Lexus' own RX offers better value.
My Experience I've been mildly perplexed by the GX 470's presence in the North American market since its debut in 2003. After all, Lexus already had an excellent midsize luxury SUV--the RX 330--and launching another model in the same class ...

Pros: Fit & finish, quiet ride, many luxury amenities, Lexus dealer experience, warranty Cons: Back seat is only for kids, fuel economy on the low side The Bottom Line: If you've got $50,000-$60,000 grand to spend on a mid-size luxury sport ute, this is the one to get!
This is one amazingly refined and civilized truck. It does everything it is designed to do extremely well and leaves many competitors in the dust. Exterior: Paint/trim/body: The paint quality on this vehicle is flawless. No orange peel like on ...

Pros: Refined, deliberate, comfortable, and roomy mid sized SUV. Cons: Will your grins outweigh your grimace at the pump? The Bottom Line: I have never owned a nicer SUV. Wish it got 20 mpg but it's worth 16.5 ave. MPG to own this fine Vehicle. Very impressed!
My first impression while driving the GX was that it felt solid. The handling is deliberate and inspires confidence. The field of view in the GX is excellent. There is ample head room, even with the driver seat in an almost fully upright position. The ...

Pros: Well engineered, well built, well appointed. Comfortable to drive with good performance Cons: Counter intuitive controls, overly complex 'integrated' navigation / audio / temperature system. Poor gas mileage. The Bottom Line: The Lexus represents good value for the money. The engineering and appointments are superb for the class of car. The only downside is the low mileage.
My wife has wanted an SUV for a long time (God knows why) so my son and I bought the Lexus GX 470 for her anniversary present. She loves it! Though I've never, ever been a fan of trucks, I must admit that it doesn't drive or feel like one. The ...
