Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: decent power train, large trunk capacity
Cons: cheap and sloppy construction, coarse ride, mediocre fuel economy
The Bottom Line: Even though it's an improvement on the Cavalier it replaces, the Cobalt still doesn't measure up to the import competition. It doesn't even measure up to Ford competition.

A generation ago when the Arab Oil Embargo raised gasoline prices by almost 200% in a matter of days, there were few compact cars on roads North American roads: VW Bugs accounted for most of them; along with the occasional Honda, Datsun, or Toyota. Just ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fun, stylish, good handling, just my size
Cons: Too small for my husband to drive comfortably
The Bottom Line: Great car for handling, looks, performance, only have heard good things from owners. But it's pretty cramped if you are tall.

I just returned from a trip to San Francisco. I had pre-booked my car with National, and it was ready and waiting when I arrived. In fact, several cars were ready and waiting, and I was instructed to simply choose one and drive it on out. I drive ...

Pros: Smooth acceleration, complaint ride, nice interior
Cons: Exterior kind of bland, "numb steering"
The Bottom Line: Great car for the money-conscious buyer

So I found myself looking for a new car... ONCE AGAIN!!! As my Audi A4 has been giving me too many problems. I ended up at a Chevrolet dealership and thought about getting a brand new car. Heck, the payments would even be lower than what I would have ...

Feb 19 '07 - Updated Feb 20 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful engine, great looking, big trunk, comfortable inside.
Cons: Not recommended for people over 6ft, trunk *opening* small
The Bottom Line: Sporty, performs very well and overall, a fun vehicle. I would consider purchasing it with leather interior, if I was single.

I am a mother of four and after driving a van for years I wanted to rent a small fun vehicle for a trip I was taking. I put about 900 miles on it, 730 of it on the freeway. This was overall, a blast to drive. Fuel Economy In the approximate ...

Pros: good engine power, good audio system, big trunk, comfy chairs.
Cons: windshield ruggedness, clutch sensor
The Bottom Line: Good affordable car with fair milage - definitely test-drive.

After my aging 1997 Dodge Neon was having a few more issues, I decided to go car shopping, I mainly did it online due to a busy schedule, and after comparing my Neon's specs to other cars, the Cobalt was in the price range I was hoping for, and had the ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Pricing, warranty, efficiency, big trunk
Cons: *lack of engine performance, small trunk opening
The Bottom Line: I probably would have purchased this car if it had accelerated as well as it's figures had promised

While on my search for my next car, I couldn't help but notice the Chevrolet Cobalt coupe. The prices were amazing compared to a Civic DX and it looked better on paper. The actual product does not translate so well though. Inside, I found the same ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: easy to drive ,comfortable, just the right speed, love it
Cons: trunk space, and the seats are not as comfortable as other cars.
The Bottom Line: my recommendation would be to buy one because it is a decision that you want regret. It is very reliable, fun to drive and all around a wonderful car.

I just recently went shopping for my dream car. I absolutely love this car. I looked at the Honda civics and other cars but from the moment I laid eyes on the Chevy cobalt. I feel in love with it. It is one of the best values out there. I love the way ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: reliability, quality, solid feel, choice of Coupe or Sedan, decent mileage, nicely styled
Cons: poor rear visibility (coupe), open glass channels, small fuel tank
The Bottom Line: I would recommend anyone take a look at the Cobalt before spending more on a small car. The Coupe offers sporty style and great handling

First, we own an '06 Cobalt LT coupe, an '07 LT3 Sedan and an '07 SS Coupe. All three have been reliable and comfortable cars. The '06 was bought new for my daughter when she was 16 and as such, has held up extremely well to the punishment a new ...

Mar 12 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: fuel-efficient, lots of leg room, shoulderbelts for all, latch for 3
Cons: while doable, it's tricky to fit 3 carseats across the back
The Bottom Line: If you or your partner wants a fun sporty car that the kids can ride in when needed/wanted, this is it.

Well, after more than 10yrs of life, our old Buick Lesabre bit the dust. My dh and I decided that, since I have a minivan, he should get something more sporty and something more suited to a car that is just for work and the kids wouldn't need to be in ...

Pros: inexpensive, nice looks, decent fuel economy, decent pick-up

The Bottom Line: A decent economy car for the price.

Pros: agile, well built, four doors, comfortable front seats
Cons: Air Conditioning, ride, compromised rear seats
The Bottom Line: has most limitations of any small car. compromised rear seats. Galore of options available

Jan 23 '08

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Is zippy and can keep up with the big-dogs ie: Mustangs :)
Cons: Little mechanical failures make this car seem cheaply made.
The Bottom Line: I would recocomend buying the less expensive Aveo. I regret my buying decision.

I had a 2004 Chevy Aveo sedan that I absolutely loved. The entire time I owned the car I had zero problems with it. It was a good, sound vehicle. I decided to trade it in for a car with air-conditioning and since Chevrolet had been so good to me in the ...

Pros: Good Looks, Good on Gas
Cons: Shotty Workmanship
The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, this would be a good car for you. But don't expect much.

This was my first new car. I went from a 1994 Toyota Camry. I wish I would have kept my 14 year old car! I had to put my Cobalt in the shop 3 times the first month I owned it! There was a problem with the gas cap seal and it took 3 trips to the shop for ...

Pros: Great rear headlight looks and spoiler. MP3 player connection.
Cons: Cheap hubcaps, terrible handling/gas mileage, nothing power.
The Bottom Line: DON'T BUY THIS CAR! You WILL regret it! I know I did!

I was studying abroad in Argentina when I began to hear the news that the gas prices just kept going up and up. I decided it was time to sell my 2000 Ford Mustang back in the states in order to get a newer car with better gas mileage. Boy was that a ...

Pros: sporty looking car
Cons: too many mechanical defects, back seat too small
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this vehicle! I thought this was a reliable car, it it not safe to drive.

I purchased my brand new 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt LS sedan with an Automatic Transmission on October 1, 2007. It had 25 miles on it at delivery. I drove this vehicle 708 miles until I had a problem. The date was November 2, 2007, exactly 1 month from ...
