Pros: smart interior layout, comfortably firm seats, visibility and spaciousness. Cons: poor gas mileage, unrefined and sluggish motor, antiquated 4-speed auto transmission, driving dynamics are poor. The Bottom Line: with few redeeming features, this model is soon to die off, and honestly I don't think many will miss it.
After a two-week rental period with this vehicle, I got to know the in and outs fairly well in many driving conditions, and overall it was disappointing. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: - hard seats, but comfortable for long treks - noisy, overworked motor - ...

Pros: Roomy, quiet, and did I mention roomy. Cons: Large pillars, difficult to open trunk, uncomfortable on long drives. The Bottom Line: Good for short trips, don't bother for long drives

Pros: Good space in front and rear and luggage area Cons: Seat comfort, engine power and noise, window switches, gas mileage
I recently rented an 2008 PT Cruiser LX. This was the standard model, with an auto trans, tinted windows, and air. The car was roomy for 4 people and quite a bit of luggage, better than a focus or corolla (my other choices.) The car also interested me, and this was my first time to drive one. I was disappointed in the performance or lack thereof. Maybe with a manual transmission or the GT with the turbo, but the 4 cylinder felt weak and was loud. The power window switches are cool, but it still was awkard to reach to the dashboard to use them. The seats were very hard and uncomfortable. I like the updated exterior and the color keyed bumpers, but I think its time to retire this model. The larger more powerful Chevy HHR is a better value and a better vehicle overall. I was also disappointed by the poor gas mileage. I only got 15.6 in mixed city/highway driving.
