Pros: This amp is all about power and efficiency Cons: Cheesy pots for gain, eq and crossover, optional EBC2
MTX Audio has been around for quite some time, and I always liked their philosophy and marketing. I've owned numerous amps from them dating back to their old Black Gold weries amps. The Black Gold 125x2 amps were some of my favorites. The amp under...
Pros: Small size, class D, good value and SPL/SQ Cons: Terrible technical service, use "only" 1/0 wire, LP crossover frequency not marked.
First the negative of this amp. If your amp ever needs technical servicing, they will swap the board inside the amp and if that doesn't fix the amp, they will tell you it's your fault. Of course they don't know anything about you, but it must be your...
Pros: class D Cons: screw terminals
adverage sq
2 ohm stable
Its no secret that MTX has the worst coustomer service in the industry, i was a former MTX competitor. Thats reason enough not to buy this product. But aside from that the 8100D is a very old amp, they have been making it in one form or another since...
Pros: Power And Durability! Cons: Low Power X-Over Frequency Not Marked.
So, Ya Want Power, and loudness? Then this is what your looking for! This Amp puts out quite a bit of power for its price. Being 500 RMS and 1500 Peak Power, It is definitely something for audio fans! Using Class D Adaptive Technology (As In More power...
Pros: lots of power if hooked up to the right stuff. Cons: you need a capacitor to save your alternators life.
I have owned a MTX 81000 since it was new.It will drain a lot of power at 2ohms butt will not kill your alternator if you are running dual voice coils and run them in series. It sounds great in my blazer.I have the 18000d, two power HX2's and a 1 farad audio sound labs digital readout capacitor (that helps a lot to). Will never buy another amp again. Never have had a problem with it. But over time i lost 1 leg from the amp and broke the bass control that hooks to the dash. Plus i only paid $250 for mine i have family that works at MTX.
Pros: POWER!!!! Clean and simple chassis, easy to install. Customer support actually helps out with problems. Cons: Gets Hot! Pricey. Needs an external fuse or breaker. MUST upgrade alternator.
I bought this amp used and waited six months to install it. I have it wired to a pair of Kicker S10L5's and they are pounding. Of course I gave them 2.75 cubes each and an 8inch diameter port to breath in. Still I had to buy a pair of 15 in MTX 8000's to handle this thing. The 0 gauge wire is a must and I use a 150amp breaker on mine. I upgraded to a 180 amp alternator and gave it it's own battery. Plan to add a 6500D I have sitting in the closet next month along with (2)10 inch 8000's along with another battery and another run of 4 gauge wire for the 6500. MTX used to be the bomb but they sacrificed clarity with the new series of amps. When I give this truck to my son my next ride will probably be loaded with either MTX or Diamond audio. Another thing...If you live in Texas you better run fans on MTX stuff. THEY GET HOT!!!!
