Pros: Amazing sound quality, compact design, compatibility, AC adapter, remote included Cons: Some iPods are too big and must connect with cables
I purchased this speaker system for my fiance for his birthday last year. We have a treadmill in the basement and when he works out he usually searches through his cds to find the perfect workout music. I wanted to buy him a set of speakers to work with ...
Pros: Good sound, price is much cheaper than Bose ($189.99 at BUY.COM), generally portable, output options Cons: handle, remote control storage, bass at max volume

Pros: Amazing sound, portability, ease of use, price, aux. input Cons: remote control
I took a lot of time looking at different ipod docks. I went through all the reviews on cnet and epinions and many other review websites. What I came to find was that the iM7 delivers as good, if not better sound, than the Bose Sounddock, and for much ...
Pros: Loud, clear and portable iPod boombox that blows away even more expensive competition. Cons: Unit becomes unwieldy and heavy when used with batteries. No LED indicator when adjusting sound.
The Altec Lansing iM7 is $100 less than the popular (and overpriced) Bose docking station. While Bose has the reputation, it's impossible to find it discounted below the $299 list price. I paid $190 for the iM7 from buy.com, and it can be found at ...
Pros: Great Sound Cons: Heavy with batteries for true portability, quirky remote
My husband got the Bose Sound dock when he bought me the ipod video for Christmas last year. 6 months later he gave me the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 for my birthday. He said he got it because the Bose wasn't portable and thought I might like a ...
Pros: great unique design
awesome sound for size
adjusting bay depth for various iPods Cons: wafer-small remote that isn't very powerful
When I purchased a 5th gen. 30GB video iPod, I wanted a good way to play music to the room. After looking at the broad variety of this 21st century 'boombox', I settled on this one for its good rating and its esthetical qualities (space age and sleek). ...
Great sound, but broken latch by senyug ,Dec 24 '06
Pros: Great sound, great price Cons: Poor latch quality - didn't make it one night
Perhaps I am just a bull in a china closet, but the latch that holds the door in place broke on the first night. I selected this over the Bose after listening to both side by side at my local Circuit City. The Altec Lansing sounded just as good, if not better, and was tons cheaper.
So, I buy one for myself and one for my brother. After I unwrap my Christmas gift to myself, plug up my iPod and push the door in, I hear a pop. Now, the door won't stay closed. So, I am going to take it back after Christmas and give another one a try. Perhaps I just got unlucky. If my brother's breaks as well, I am taking both back and getting the Bose.
I read reviews where a couple of people had latch problems, but Altec Lansing supposedly "fixed" the problem early in the life cycle of the product. Apparently they have more work to do.
nice sound but not very well thought by amanieux ,Jan 18 '06
Pros: great sound (bass),nice design, charge your ipod (only when plugged in the wall),many input/outputs Cons: sometimes discharge your ipod, expensive, does not charge your ipod if running on battery, heavy.
the design is nice the sound is very good (especially the bass) but there are strange annoying problems like finding your ipod with an empty battery because when you turn off the im7 it sometimes turn off the ipod but it also sometimes does not !
i could also notice that the ipod does not get recharged if your im7 is running on battery. these are little annoying misconceptions that could have easily been corrected - for such a high price it is a bit of a scandal.
update : i now bought a grado sr80 and though it cannot really be compared as it is a headphone, sound with the sr80 i sooo much better i can no longer accept listening to the im7. so before buying the im7, make sure you really need external speakers rather than headphones : the battle is unfair,sr80 cost half as much and sound if 400% better.
Pros: Sound and price Cons: heavy with batteries. Ipod door seems fragile.
This unit sounds good and discount prices are available making it a great value. Has a handy remote but no good indication of the settings. Charges the Ipod when on AC but not on batteries.
Pros: Sound, Price, Travel Bag Cons: Remote control, iPod housing, no volume meter.
I purchased several iPod stereo docks before settling on AL's iM7. The others were just too weak, volume wise. The iM7 has great sound. I've read other reviews complaining about having to reset their iPod, but I've never run into that problem. Some things I dislike: The remote control is very picky. It seems like you have to be at the perfect angle/aim in order to use it. Annoying, but I can deal with it. The housing for the iPod feels a little flimsy and seems like it could break easily. There's a dial on the housing that will make your iPod fit snug. If not used properly, it may be the cause of some reviewers complaints about scratches. Lastly, there is no visible indication of the volume level. Again, annoying, but I can deal with it.
Overall, I think it's a good machine. I paid $190 for it at BJ's and it came with a very well made travel bag.
Nice looking unit. We enjoyed the sound, but it broke in less than a week. by idyll ,Jan 06 '06
Pros: Good sound. Two way sound speakers. Fits all iPods. Cons: Bad latch design. Broke almost immediately.
Though the sound quality is fine, inserting the iPod(s) into the slot is a little harrowing. I managed to scratch the plate of my new (video) iPod by not quite pushing it correctly into the slot.
I also liked the round bi-directional speakers, so that, for instance, you can listen in the kitchen and the living room at the same time.
After only a few days using it, the frame will not push back into the body. The latch won't hold. Terrible cheap plastic design. It goes back tomorrow and good riddance.
Pros: Very good sound quality Cons: Have to be careful when closing the door
The sound quality has been very good and it is powerful enough to rock the whole house. I don't think the boose is worth the extra money. I have been very happy with this product.
You have to be careful when closing the door and some reviewers have had problems with that.
